Agree; Essendon has salary cap problems so don't want to keep a $900,000 non player on their list.

He hasn't played for two year, and may never return to form.

Much like Hannas, trading him frees up keeping a lot of their players.

We should stick to our guys and just offer a second and third pick.

If they don't want it, fine, we get #5 in this draft.

If they do, we need to reduce his salary demands; lets not destroy our salary cap again!!

Fact or Fiction? I'm going the latter. Slow news week.

I can see why we would be interested in Joe Daniher. And I would support us paying pick 4/5 for him, provided we are satisfied with the results of all the medical examinations. I don't think it means we think Buddy is done and dusted... but he's definitely going to finish up one day. And if we don't get Joe this year, here's hoping we can get him for free next year!

He is definitely the inform small forward at the moment. But has been anything but consistent this year, just taking a quick look over his 2019 season:

Tipungwuti has scored 26.10 for the year, with 7 goals coming from 1 game. He has been goalless 10 times this year.

Compare this to Papley, who has scored 31.26, and been held goalless only twice this year.

We should be doing whatever we can to keep Papley, rather than waste money on an area we already have a surplus in (Hayward + Ronke can play a Tipungwuti role).

Isn't Daniher a free agent at the end of the 2020 season?
He just had a coffee with Harley cause Harley was once his "mentor".
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

Agree, i also get the impression that his manager will really bump his price up when his contract is up for review.Weather he is worth more ( particularly when we have so much talented young players on our list ) is debatable.

Yeah sorry trading down for points was probably the wrong thing to imply. I kinda meant points/extra picks in later rds, etc.

I feel we will somehow not take the really early pick, which of course i hope we do to get a 10-15 year gun!!!

                Fingers crossed!

If it is true Re Joe

For me a player like him makes it so difficult for opposition teams to matchup

                  Reid
                  Buddy
                  Daniher
                  Papley
                  Heeney

                  That’s nuts !!!!

Perhaps I chose the wrong word. More transition than insurance. My point was more that after Buddy, the drop off re tall forwards is significant.

Just read that Constable and Fort might be part of a deal to get Stevens to the cats as they both are looking for more opportunities. Inside mid and ruckman looking for more opportunities? Perhaps they should give the old cat Harley a call and see what might be going at the swans!

What are the odds that Reid, Buddy and Daniher would be fit at any one time? Highly unlikely I would have thought, especially with Buddy's injury trend over the last couple of years.

A player that's injured half the time needs to be twice as good as a player that doesn't get injured and with three of them in the forward line we'll be over exposed.

On top of that Daniher is on around $900k p.a. He's not worth that.

We are thinking of Daniher to replace Franklin?

We want to ensure we always have an injured player on the list?

                            Give me strength ...
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

We have the young talent on the list and no longer need his amazing 8 possessions, 3 point from set shots!!

Not sure we’d get much for him, but not a crazy idea.

He’s not a number 1 forward. Number 2 suits him better. Got killed by Davis on the weekend.
