I am confident Tucker is a keeper as was outstanding in WA Colts until injured. Swans recruited him knowing all his history. Tucker has also had a growth spurt as seen in the Swans singing their song after the final game. He is now tall and just needs a pre season to start showing his obvious talent. Stay patient, Ralph, we could be on a winner.

1. he won a contract for next year earlier in the season;
2. he was in the huddle for the team song after the Saints match (like Tucker).

Delist him for what would be our last pick in the rookie draft, doesn't make sense.
Harry Reynolds was playing school footy for a large part of last year so he's another taken with a long term view.
Agree we have some difficult list decisions to make with there being a squeeze for spots on both lists.
On a broader note, most commentators seem to believe that Gold Coast is getting a PP attached to their first so all picks move out one. Given Green will be bid on early and GWS will match, move out all picks from ours another one. That makes our pick 6, Carlton's Crows pick which is discussed in the Papley trade scenario would be pick 10, about the range the ACL'd Kemp will go. Saints pick 5 will end up pick 7. Keep this pick drift in mind when evaluating value of picks.Comment

Fresh article suggesting the Blues are very keen on still coming for Papley: Blues not on "same page" with trade targets: Edmund . I hope we keep him but at least we know we should be getting top dollar if he goes. I guess that's pick 8 or whatever. Probably fair. But I wonder if they're willing to stump up that much for him. I would prefer we keep him - Papley is exactly what we need. Why take a pick that gives us the potential to develop a replacement down the track when we can have the real deal, at the right age, with established relationships and connections to the club, right now?
Well, that's how I read the first paragraph.Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

I can't see the club agreeing to trade Papley for Carltons first round pick, unless he wants out, which doesn't seem to be the case. The chances of a pick 9/10 player being more valuable to us than Papley is highly unlikely.Comment
-
So it really comes down to whether Paps wants out. Unless Carlton are that desperate that they offer something crazy (maybe Cripps wants to come to us and we do a swap ????).Comment

If Papley wasn't interested in leaving this wouldn't be a topic of conversation. He apparently does have some level of interest in going, or at least an awful lot of people who are meant to have an idea seem to think so even if based on hearsay. The good thing is that Papley is not hellbent on leaving and not desperately unhappy here and we are not going to have to take unders. All opinions are not equal. Hello all
I couldn’t help but thinking last night (when driving back from the snow) how we all have different outcomes we are looking for Re our swannies and this affects the possibilities we see re recruitment and trading.
As RWO members “if” we articulated our expected outcomes, this would provide greater insight in how we present our options re player / list management at the Swans
It appears we may all have a different time line and trajectory for achieving certain team performance outcomes ?
1. These expectations tend to challenge how we “propose” to manage a football list of players.
2. These expectations also affect what we see as possible for our team in the short and long term
Simon Darymple was quoted earlier this year how it is critical in Sydney to be a top8 team in part to keep eyeballs on AFL in a city with so many sports and activities to be part of.
For me we were given 2019 as a grace period by the media, supporters and sponsors but we need to be a top8 most of the time and 2020 is possible with the right list of players.
This grace period will be tested this draft trade period and through season 2020. I suspect we have a little leniency in 2020 but not if we go sideways or backwards
We won 8 games in 2019
The 8th team won 12 games in 2019
We should be knocking on the door of 12 wins / top8 most definitely otherwise our trajectory as a club should be questioned.
I argue right now we can be top8 team in 2020 and a top4 team in 2021 if we make the “right” calls re player retention and recruitment now to evolve our squad.
If we stay only organic growth only, I am concerned we will win 10 games max and be 12th on the ladder and struggle to be a serious team contending the GF in 2021 > which we should be.
Simon Darymple was also quoted saying how important it is we recruit players who can handle the intensity and big moments of finals football.
So what are your expectations for:
2020 ?
2021 ?
2022 ?"be tough, only when it gets tough"

Bottom six draw for next year, other than GWS, most of the other double ups will be fellow bottom six teams, GC, Melb, Carlton, Saints, Norf? So that should translate into a more wins season in 2020.
Been up in the snow Auntie G, plenty of Dees supporters still there as well?Comment

We would've won more games if Buddy played those games he missed due to injury. So I'd expect a natural improvement from 15th on the ladder to say 9th to 12th next season. Therefore, trading for Daniher wouldn't make any sense unless we're in a premiership window.Comment
