I agree Liz. Taylor doesn't seem to suit our needs unless the recruiters think they can turn him into a player you provides rebound or outside run.

Reckon we'll draft solid citizens at 25 & 32ish, too valuable to do speculative stuff.

* 4 from 19 in third round
*2 from 13 in fourth round

I like Stephens. He has been playing with men and he looks like he has a touch of class about him. He is a country boy originally so go home factor shouldn't be great

A couple of questions:

1. Why is there a rule that you can't trade a pick back to the club that traded it to you? Is this the AFL's attempt to stamp out our trick yesterday to keep a second round pick and not burn it paying for Blakey? In that case, couldn't they just limit the rule to trading during the actual draft?

2. Will trading of future picks be possible during draft night?

3. Can clubs pre-list NGA players as rookies if they are not taken in the ND?

Thanks Bloodspirit. I really like a look of several of the underrated ten, particularly Gould (I really hope he becomes a Swan), Schoenberg and Byrnes. Inside mids with good acceleration (the last two) would seem like a good fit for us. Looks like Gould, Young, Serong could be massive sliders, and Jackson, Pickett (potentially both to the Dees) the huge bolters.

I agree. I have been hoping Schoenberg would be available at our second pick for a while, and also started getting optimistic that Gould might slide to us. Byrnes seems likely to go later and seems a great get. And someone posted on here weeks or months ago that the Swans were into him. Maybe someone who knows Olly Florent's parents? I don't remember exactly now. I might be mixing my stories. But I've been keeping my eyes out for news of Byrnes ever since.

I know we need inside mids, but I wonder how many we'll draft? And whether if we do take that sort in Green, Flanders etc we'll be less likely to take more further down the draft. Or given that there are what look like quality inside mids all the way through, whether we might not draft a different sort of player with our first pick.

I hope we take two mids in the draft. I agree that we don't have a need for Elijah Taylor - but I do think he couldn't do much better than coming to learn off Buddy. And he's a Hawthorn type pick - by which I mean that Hawthorn have a tendency to pick high risk, high reward players and I think Taylor fits into that category.

I wish we had a second round pick 5 picks or so earlier than we do - a lot of good players seem set to disappear in that range. I think picks 10-20 will see multiple apparent bargains. I would have been open to the club trading down our pick 5 for two in this range but I remain steadfast with my faith in their approach and it will be exciting to get a real top-liner, hopefully (nearly) guaranteed winner. I don't want us to roll the dice too much with our first pick - no high risk, high reward there please! Just a sure thing.

Would we be amazed or upset if the club takes Fisher McAsey with our first pick?

Fisher McAsey I would be disappointed with because he's being touted as a defender, even though I think we need one, its just not as easy to get excited about a key defender as a player that could turn games e.g. Flanders, or a spectacular kick e.g. Young.

I like your suggestion re: trading up. Based on Twomey's phantom draft moving up 5 places would give us access to bid on or draft: Schoenberg, Maginness, Bianco, Rantall, Rivers and Gould. That's a pretty handy bunch of prospects. Another 6 places opens up (in Twomey's version): Cooper Stephens, Jones, Worrell, Henry, De Konig, Kemp and Robertson.

The club was active with live trading last year and I reckon we'll have plans to do it again. But I suspect that all hell is going to break loose this year as a lot of teams will be trying to trade up. Pick 19 (whatever it becomes) is going to be in huge demand overnight.

I think the draft will be great theatre on Wednesday night!

What about drafting 'Biggie'? AFL Draft Prospects - AFL.com.au Especially if we trade up the draft and have a pick slide towards the back of the draft (e.g. 25 & 32 for 19 & 67). Incidentally, I'd prefer to trade 25 & 44 and see what that might land us - or would that not get us anywhere? What a leap! And can roost it a bit by the looks of it.
