Not updating the game plan given the game trends and new rules was completely negligent by the coaching panel. Sticking to the same game plan and doing it badly is completely negligent by the players. Do we still have a tackling coach? If not, please go and hire one straight away!

    - - - Updated - - -

We will not win another premiership with John Longmire as coach.

It seems a number of attributes that are components of "The Bloods Culture" are missing at the moment.

-- Tackling.....we don't do enough of it and when we do, they rarely stick.

--Contested ball kings.....we are this no more, beaten in this area nearly every week.

--Stick like glue to your opponent.....we play off our opponents almost all the time.

--110% effort 100% of the time.....you can see lack of effort to chase and pressure regularly.

--Never give in.....sadly, we do for fair periods of the match (then 'have a go' when it's too late).

A return of the Bloods Culture in effort, not just words is long overdue. What happened to it?

I think last night it was umpire 23 Findlay who marched Mc Veigh 50 metres. Always open to correction.
Meredith had a horror third quarter. He was the umpire who missed the touched off the boot when he was 5 metres away. You could see it clearly on TV. If you are that close and watching you can't possibly miss it. It is very audible on the ground.

There is a word that describes Meredith. It starts with a 'c' and ends with a 't'......but it has 5 letters, not 4.

Slow movement out of defence was a killer last night. This is game plan. Not a very good game plan John. Everybody has done it to death and you are a late commer. Find something nobody has done before. Or at least be more modern than slow movement

                Eloquently said VAR, thank you.

On the point repeatedly made that we are slow coming out of defence, is it not part of the problem that the fast break goes pear shaped cause there's no one ahead of the ball, or else it's buddy with 3 defenders on him? Are we not better off with tempo footy? Or am I missing something? probably.

We simply have no consistent forward structure, just like 2018 on too many occasions. Too many players get sucked up the ground, trying arguably 'too hard' to help get the pill when we don't have it. We then get it and have nothing to kick too.

We also are desperately missing really high quality half back flankers - what I mean by that is players of the ilk of Mattner/the Irishman Mk 1/Malceski, who could open up and clear the lines and generally hit targets pretty well.
"You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."

Agree, that and dumb footballers who continually just kick it to Buddy at all costs. There were times on Friday night were we had players 20 mtrs clear in the forward line but the player with the ball would just kick it to Buddy even though he was out numbered.

This must be a coaching instruction as it seems to happen almost every game.

Yes there was an incident where, I think it was Cunningham, had the ball on the flank. He had a player free 35 metres away but went 50 to Bud who had three opponents. Dumb footy.

Despite the below par start to the season, I still think we'll build & improve with each week to give the finals a real shake by season's end. The desire/attitude is there (unlike Essendon & Dees), just need to polish up our skills to help improve our scoring efficiency. Seen great patches of attacking footy in the first 2 rounds and confident we'll start posting bigger (winning) scores in the coming weeks as Buddy, Reid, Heeney & co really start hitting their straps. We're a team that never gives up when the chips are down & always find a way out of tight spots like we're in ATM.

Heard KB right us off this morning saying we're shot (he seems to say that each year), but I know my team better.
UPWARDS & ONWARDS TO VICTORY! GO BLOODS!!!!

                          To win we have to:

                          1. Stop playing dumb footy like always bombing the ball forward. Especially when it is either Reid or Bud surrounded by opponents.

                          2. Start playing Heeney and Mills in the mids. Take the bloody chance. Bring Thurlow in to replace Mills back.

                          3. Get some speed into the team. I am not taking about juicing them up haha.

                          4. Stop being so defensive. Winger playing on the defensive side of the square is a waste of a player. I know he was supposed to drift back after the bounce to be another defender. But so far that player has not been effective at all. In fact the opposition have an extra once the ball is bounced so they take away and get the overlap. Then they just pop the ball over the top of the defensive winger. No side using this has won so far.

                          5. Clean up the dreadful disposal. I have seen under 12's with better disposal. But of course after 2years at Swans even the most elite disposer ends up crap.

                          6. Clean up the tackles and pressure. The pressure has been terrible because the opposition always has a free winger.

                          7. Try something new. Anything. Try new players. Try actually attacking. Try not going too defensive. Try actually getting a game plan that is not 9 years old.

Watch every other team this weeekend move the ball, oit game plan is outdated big time.

Every other team has the capacity to break lines and play end to end fast

Horse has lost it, we dont even look like moving it fast, no one is doing 15m sideays kicks but us

Mills and Heeney our only chance, id even be happy for Horse to put them both in after 10 mins in their usual spots so he can claim to have made a change on the run

I have zero sympathy for him by the way. This goes a lot deeper however. Swans have doubled down today because they are still seething over the Goodes saga and the role he played in it. In addition, because of his large media profile in Melbourne, the club holds him largely responsible for removal of COLA and the two year trade ban. Pridham is pressuring McLachlan big time to do something about it despite McGuire's seemingly more genuine apology today. We shouldn't hold our breath because he is the original protected species here in Melbourne. People in other states scratch their head rightly and wonder how he survives. It's a peculiarly Melbourne thing. He's probably already been on the phone to Gil a la Clarkson as part of the boys buddy club that runs the game. No arms length approach and a heap of conflicts of interest. Let's hope karma wins out soon.

Try some decent recruiting. Every other contender seems to have picked up someone good. Richmond: Lynch. Collingwood: beams. Hawthorn: Scully, Geelong: Rohan

Exactly. Have a look at the play today and last night. All teams are attacking. Mind you the Hawks have resurrected the Slingshot. Which seems, to be working with all their speedy forwards. Dogs are kicking to the leading player really well. The Eagles also used a firm of Slingshot. Their talls were dominent. So we're their mids and smalls. They moved the ball quickly.

MOVE THE BALL QUICKLY. THAT IS THE KEY UNDER THE NEW RULES
