Maybe teams that play the ball, and get to the ball first more often than not, are more likely to be on the positive side of the ledger in the free kick count. A team that is more defensively focused and coached, that is often more worried about their opponent than getting first use of the ball, and is playing a more reactive game style, is probably going to lose out in the free kick count. Not sure about this. Meredith did umpire in 2016 but was one of the better ones. Scott Jeffrey, who retired last year, seemed the most problematic in that GF.

I think last night it was umpire 23 Findlay who marched Mc Veigh 50 metres. Always open to correction.

You do realise 'thinking' something is subjective, and therefore can not be factual. All three of those statements are your thoughts, and hence subjective. None are facts.

I don't think anyone from the posts I've seen have suggested much at all about the 100, beyond the original call was marginal. The dreadful call on McVeigh however was a howler and it did most definitely change the momentum of the game.

-- The free which lead to the first 50 was wrong! Even the Seven commentators said so.....meaning everything that followed was wrong.

It lead to a two goal turnaround and stuffed us completely but you somehow find it ok.....just too piss everyone else off. Go away and come back when you can talk some sense Barry....or at least sound like a Swans supporter. For you, a tough challenge......

As you suggest, all of it is arguable. I'd argue that to beat hawks in one GF to win the flag was a huge effort because their talent was much better than ours so being1-1 in Grand finals against them is something we can live with. 2016 was a lost opportunity and the umps didn't help but we finished higher than GWS and the Cats who we demolished in Prelim. Reckon GWS had far more talent. 2017 we were 0 and 6 and still won a final. Last year we faded even though we beat Eagles twice. Was our list talent better than most or did our game plan get us to overachieve?

You're right about 2012 and the umps but they obviously shouldn't be a factor. Playing on oppositions home ground also makes it harder. Agree Mills and Heeney should play mid. Agree to disagree on other stuff. Sure we agree on wanting a bright future. Game plan will change like everything. Go Bloods!
