    Likely ins: Reg Jack
    Likely outs: COR Blakey
    My ins: Thurlow Cameron
My outs: Clarke Cunningham - these guys need to learn to kick to a target, my U9s are more accurate. Mills to midfield. Blakey play more up the field off left HBF and wing. He has some pace and his left foot is sublime. Also provide marking target out of defence. Cameron and Sinclair to rotate FF and ruck.

Liam Twomey HS article doing injury analysis of each club. Matthew Ling is still listed as out indefinitely with toe injury and Daniel Menzel 4-6 weeks away with groin. Nick Smith not listed. Liam questions our game plan rather than our list if we do slide this year. Have only scored 100+ points once in our last 12 games.

We have beaten 3 teams by more than 5 goals in 12 months and only 2 of them we put away by 50 to 60 pts
If that doesnt tell you how defensive we are then nothing does.

We are like Freo were, just need to stay close because the opportunity to win is always there as we dont bury teams

Damning indeed......as I asked previously "where has the 'Bloods Culture' gone?"

                  My changes
                  out : Clarke, Cunningham
                  in: Thurlow, Dawson

What I think the SC will do

                  out: Clarke
                  in : KJ

Heeney did make a difference when he started in the centre, so unless he's injured should start there. Mills to the centre as well and Thurlow comes in as a defender. Dawson to come in to help with a better mid/forward setup.

                    Changes

                    Out: Clarke, Cunningham, COR, Ronke

In : Thurlow, Cameron, McCartin, Dawson

Put Blakey on wing, Mills to Centre, Thurlow HBF, Cameron, Sinkers to rest forward. Cunningham is the softest player in our squad. His immediate reaction 100% of the time is to handball - doesn't matter if we are all covered he will handball direct to opposition. Ronke does not do enough. Clarke is not good enough and COR needs some more time in NEAFL.

Exactly. If anything, I think the squad is still slightly on the tall side, and is lacking run. If the current smaller to medium sized players aren't providing enough run, either replace them with others who can, or implore them to do better. In the most case, I doubt there are any such smaller players out of the team who can provide more, possibly with the exception of Jack if he is properly fit (physically and matchwise).

I'm surprised so many are down on Cunningham. He was much improved last season in all aspects of his game. He hasn't set the world on fire in the first two rounds but I don't think he's been our worst by any stretch. I am very confident there is no one currently ready and able to come in and play his role better.

And how can those who bemoan the younger players not getting enough opportunities then want to drop COR after just one game (and his 5th in his career). I thought he did some encouraging things last weekend, as well as making a couple of blunders and being caught out of position a few times.

                          Yes it is.

Last week we had more inside 50's than Crows but could not convert. Buddy was the only one able to put any pressure on their defenders - our smaller guys did nothing.

We are playing at Marvel Stadium, play Reid CHB and Sinkers can help our forwards take some marks and kick this bloody goals which we seem to find very very hard to kick. Our scoring rate is deplorable.

I just don’t think going taller is the answer to the pressure problem we have . In fact I think it would make it worse . I don’t think there are many selection changes available to us currently that will make a great impact , we have to get a major improvement out of the guys out there . Maybe one or two changes ( Clarke needs to be dropped, maybe for jack if he’s ready ) but that would be it I would think . Maybe mccartin comes in but Blakey would have to come out and he has contributed one goal and one assist in each game so far , not sure with our scoring we can afford to lose even that contribution . Mccartin does create a lot of contests and clunks a few though so you never know .

Horse suggested he would potentially play 3 tall forwards and Blakey. I think that's way too tall but ...

Jack, McCartin in line for Blues - sydneyswans.com.au

While Jack would play a role at ground level inside 50 should he be picked to take on the Blues, McCartin's competitiveness would greatly benefit fellow tall forwards Lance Franklin and Sam Reid.

Longmire said he'd have no problem fitting all three tall targets into his forward set-up, with draftee Nick Blakey also a talented aerialist. "If they're all up and running and fit and they've been training and are able to get up and down the ground, I'd have no issue with it," he said. "They're pretty mobile all three of them and whilst they've got some height they can get up and down the ground pretty well, so we wouldn't have a problem doing that if we needed too."

Longmire said Blakey's versatility meant that he could be tried further up the ground should the Swans' forward line looked too top heavy. "We've talked about using him in the midfield, particularly on the wing, so that’s an option for us," he said.

They know he has an ongoing injury so won't play as much midfield as hoped and so will continue to underperform and lose value. Swans say he's playing against Carlton. Heeney fit to take on Blues - sydneyswans.com.au
