Are the Swans headed for the spoon in 2019?

Mmmm, number one draft pick, all we have to look forward to this year.
Happy to see losses if it means we're developing players, not happy if old stagers keep getting games their form doesn't deserve. Things can turn around quickly, Pies 13th and going no where to a GF last year. Take the draft rewards, longer pre season, early surgeries, soft draw and move on up.Comment

It's rare to see an article devoted to the Swans in this publication so things must be bad
Strength of Sydney's Bloods culture set to be tested after latest defeat | Craig Little | Sport | The Guardian
No major insights but an interesting read. The stat about contested possessions (Q3 at the Gabba biggest differential of a quarter this season) stood out for me.Comment

Hope Dunkely's son is worth the angst.Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.Comment

Rebuild wont mean anything if it doesnt start in the coaches box
We may have been spoilt during the last few years but that means nothing looking in the present.
To say our list is performing as it should for the talent we have is a joke.
Coach is shot, game style is shot, we dont get it forward enough and when we do its too slow
For all the talk of being a great developer of players id say on current form he is exactly the opposite.
Even if we got Pick 1 like a Walsh there is no way Horse would play him in the midfield and if he did he would be a tagger for 3 yrsComment

The problem with finishing last, being last, or even bottom 4 is that:
- We will have no chance of being a destination club. No finals = no chance of getting a disgruntled star up here.
- We will give GWS a giant leg up (financially, support) at our expense.Comment

I think you are overestimating our talent-so far this year, our young players haven't shown a lot of improvement, certainly not consistently. Our intensity hasn't been there other than for one quarter, and though we can criticise Horse for gameplan etc, this aspect is really up to the players- they are simply not good enough at this stage!Comment

I wonder if Eddie Maguire will find a reason why the Swans shouldn't get the No. 1 draft pick if we finish the season as wooden spooners.
We have 4 more Friday night games this year - I don't think anyone would have predicted the Swans falling so far this year. Yet I can see some of the Melbourne centric media bemoaning the Swans having Friday night games.
On current form I can't see where our next win is coming from. Perhaps against LOLNorf but they were quite convincing against Carlton.Comment

Strange but true, the Swans are scoring more without Buddy this year than with him in the team.
I make no comment as to whether this is something to do with unpredictability, aggregate v's individual output, Buddy dependence or anything else - the sample is simply too small at the moment.Comment

I don't agree. Our coaches collectively (not just Horse) have an outstanding record of getting the most out of players. Whether that's players we've recruited with later picks and as rookies, or whether that's taking second stringers from other clubs and turning them into frontliners. Some of these include: Rampe, Cunningham, Lloyd, Ronke, Mattner, Morton, Aliir, Hannebery, Parker, Kennedy, Dawson to name a few, all on Horse's watch. All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated, and well supported in logic and argument than others. -Douglas Adams, author (11 Mar 1952-2001)Comment

Ronke’s form
Aliir’s lost year in the NEAFL
Hannebery’s dumping. We’ve yet to see how he goes at the Saints.
Dawson’s lengthy apprenticeship
Rohan
Nankervis
Newman
Mitchell
There are plenty of other clubs turning low draft picks and rookies into great players.
What makes you think we are any better at it?Comment
