Are you really going to complain about the umpires after tonight? Surely irrelevant to the result and not our major problem

      Yep, exactly this.

Every now and then I think that I might quite admire the Giants and not mind if they win the flag ..... and then I see that dirty, spitting, cheating, kicking, horrid, smirky little piece of crap with the enraging oh-so-punchable face and know that I'll never want that team to enjoy any success while he's at the club. You know who I mean.

Indeed. It'll be interesting. It's pretty clear it's more than effort or resources. Although on the resources, we've not replaced Mitchell, Hanners and Jack. Not just in output, but leadership and spirit. Unlucky the latter two hit the cliff earlier than reasonably expected.

But yeah, it's more than a blip or patch and there should be some scrutiny of coaching.

I know this is old ground but I think this year really shows the error of letting Mitchell go. If he was in the team (and hadnt done a knee), we would be a contender still.

            It's that simple.

I'm not sure what we were trying to achieve with certain selections tonight.

Clarke played 58% of the game. I'm sure he's not injured. Yes, he wasn't good, but no different than what was expected.

Blakey 6 disposals, looked lost. Ronke 8 disposals, lacking confidence.

Positives: Mills had a better second half; Hewett was better; Parker and Jones were good. Reid was a little bit better.

Heeney was ok, but he and Florent need more of it.

The top 8-10 Swans are good, but it falls away badly.

Surely Ronke will be dropped after this game tonight. Needs a long spell in reserves to get back so confidence and form. Clarke also needs to go back and earn his way back in the seniors.
I thought that the umpires were good tonight. No overall excuses just out played by a better team.

Still confused by umpiring when a player is tackled. Let it go for an eternity most of the time and then pluck out an incorrect disposal free that is no different from all the others. Real problem.

I’m sick of looking for positives after another comprehensive defeat.

I want to understand what’s wrong and then how to fix it.

People will be asking for Horses head on a platter, but I think our list management has turned out, with the benefit of hindsight, to be a disaster. We have holes on every line and a dearth of players in the prime age bracket.

This hasn’t happened overnight, nor is it going to be fixed quickly.

It's easy to understand what's happening. Half those in the team has played less than fifty games. We cleaned out the blokes in the middle age group because they won't play in our next premiership. Robbo, AJ, Deano, Hanners, Newman, Gazza. They have been replaced with KIDS, so time to be patient. It's not rocket science!
Those who have the greatest power to hurt us are those we love.

We'd be more competitive....We are way off being a contender.

Combined the Tippett and Franklin contracts have turned our list management into a shambles. Sadly our effort going all out to win a premiership just failed (twice) and we are now paying the downside (probably much faster than anyone thought). Given it also cost us the loss of COLA and a trade ban it clearly was the wrong approach.

It's also cost us the support of neutrals.

Given the two recent premierships were won by graft and teamwork did we sacrifice our ethos for a short term fix that we just ended up missing?

I don't know what's wrong with the team, but something seems to be...nobody seems to be backing each other up, there's no game plan, and they seem to run of out energy in the last quarter. i thought we had a remote chance up to 3/4 time.

is it fitness? Is it coaching? Is there a psychological problem? I'm not sure, but I do think it's time for the coach to go...Perhaps at the end of the year.?

As for attendance...well there were surprisingly few Giants fans there. I just don't think there are any Giant fans? are there?

And of course, AFL in Sydney is Sydney...it's the Swans, and the AFL seem to think that dudding us through trade bans etc would turn people to the Giants...aint gonna happen. What will happen is that attendance and revenue from Sydney will drop because Swans fans will not attend games or follow AFL when umpires are terrible and the coverage is Melbourne centric AND the Swans are losing...the third being the final straw....

And then there's the little problem of transport to the SCG for the next few years whilst they rebuild the stadium. Moore Park is a mess. Taking the bus to the ground from Central now takes about 10-15 minutes longer than it did last year, and it's a hassle.

So add the transport situation to the Swans woes, and you have a decline in attendance. Be prepared for it...On the bright side, I think there's a core group of about 20 thousand who will always go..myself included...

That’s a lot of snr players out and a lot of up and comers learning fast against a team like gws who has 15 plus first round picks

Oh well looking for individual progress first while in the cycle we are in

Neafl - COR and Stoddart and Fox pushing for selection. McInerney bouncing back from his one game in the snrs with another smooth game in the neafl

Yep and if Laurie Nash hadn’t gone to Camberwell while we still had Bob Pratt, or if we didn’t clear Capper to Brisbane while we still had Edelsten’s recruits, we might’ve been contenders then too.
