Totally but he was a depth player anyway before this year, and proved a more than solid option this season . If Gould isn’t up to it round 1, or gets injured, would be nice to have some depth. Something the swans aren’t flush with, other than in the small forward position ( quantity not necessarily quality )

I was going to say Jackson Trengove is your new Tom Derickx.

Wow. Ronke over Fox. At a risk of being in the firing line for being negative, WTAF is that !

Thanks for the update AB Swannie. Does anyone know the status of Kennedy, Bell, Clarke and Wicks' contracts?

Mitch Cleary reports on Twitter that we have re-signed Ronke and McLean. https://twitter.com/cleary_mitch/sta...720370176?s=19

Just reward for McLean, who's an honest performer. Ronke retained on promise, rather than performance - needs a massive pre-season.

Ludwig Medalist, 5 career Brownlow votes, Hawthorn specialist (7 goals on just 9 kicks + 10 tackles). What's not to like?

He's overdue for another big game. The next time we play Hawthorn in a Grand Final, he's in my team.

Ronke has battled a few injuries last few years . I think the club is backing him in to get back to his best

Possibly we are retaining both Fox and Ronke but it was safer to let Fox back into the draft as Ronke would have swoopers

that makes sense. I also agree that injuries haven't allowed us to see the best of Ronke. He looked good defensively (which would have been the knock on him) in the couple of games he played before being injured

i wonder if rookie listing also provides us much more room to move re negotiation and also allocation of games

ie $85k pa plus $5k per AFL game match payments is standard for a rookie contract.........so slightly lower re base but it provides flexibility if injuries strike etc to elevate as the season goes on to the main list where needed ?

Trust in the club to know what they are doing, we really have little idea when it comes to the big picture of TPP & list structure. I notice most clubs are doing unusual things with their Rookie Lists and delistings. The Rookie List now just become a bastardised extension of the main list. Typical rules and ideas on the run by the VFL!

Clubs have an eye on the mid season drafts next year where a whole heap of over looked U18 Vic players will be available to draft, nice time to have pick 3 again and again, Crows are laughing with pick 1 in those drafts.

                              Fresh from the AFL website

                              "Current contracted for 2021: 38

The Swans have committed to new deals for Ben Ronke and Hayden McLean that they're yet to announce, which leaves them at 37 contracted players for next season. Small forward Sam Gray has been delisted but will be re-rookied, taking the Swans to 38 players for 2021. James Bell and Sam Wicks will continue as Category B rookies."

The numbers mean we have 6 spots across both lists, 3 spots after the ND.

As regards the 2021 mid-season draft: are you confident it will be based on this year's ladder position rather than the ladder position of clubs part way through next year?
