It was worth the heartache of having a @@@@ season, to pick up our own kids.
Lovely first two rounds.
Onya Kinnear.Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.Comment

My thoughts on selections
Bloody well done!
Firstly didn't think that McDonald would be available. Big plus (While Phillips was my choice, he was gone and has boomer number out of retirement - well done Roos) Happy with that and welcome!
If Campbell is/was rated by the Hawks, and we got him. (Suck eggs hawks) and validates that we have a gem.
Noted that the Cats traded to try and get Gulden, and we got him. (Suck eggs cats) and validates how highly they rated him also.
Agree with the draft ratings of A+ for the swans!
Welcome to the big league, good luck and play well.Comment

As annoyed at the Hawks probably are about us getting McDonald... We'll look back on September 20, 2020 as the day they lost him and we got him.
If they hadn't pumped the Suns.. or if Rowbottom hadn't been smothered by Bliclavs.. we would have DGB and they would have McDonald. Going to be a great rivalry to watch bloom between them.
Really hoping we go for McCartin today. McDonald is 3 to 4 years away from being the forward we need. Yes he'll play next year, but it takes time. The King boys are about to start season 3 and yet to dominate.
With Buddy, Reid, Sinclair all on last legs, we really need another key forward, and a 24yo McCartin is right in the age sweet spot.Comment

Kudos to our recruitment and list team for what they've done to replenish the list over the past three or so years.
Not every player will make it, but we've gone from a plodding, unskilled side to one with the potential to play with dare and dynamism, and filled some crucial roles along the way.
Blakey, Rowbottom, McInerney, Stephens, Campbell and Gulden potentially give our play through the centre a great mix of run, kicking skills and contested work.
McDonald up forward, McCartin down back and the potential for one or two others like Gould or Ling or Warner to come through gives us hope.
A way to go, and some more holes to fill - but our trajectory is good.'Delicious' is a fun word to sayComment

On another note, can someone confirm if we ran a points deficit last night?Comment

I think the biggest thing we need to see is a willingness of a coaching staff to back these kids in and let them play. Over to you Horse...Comment

Agree, and I know Horse has critics, but I think the signs this year were that he recognises the changing talent at his disposal, and wants to unleash them. Let's hope he keeps it up.'Delicious' is a fun word to sayComment

Very subdued reaction in the McDonald household when we called his name out. But it's understandable - their 18yo son is about to be a 6 hour flight from home now. It's up to our club to do it's very best to help Logan prosper.
The Campbell household was a contrast. No celebration when the Hawks called his name but pandemonium when we matched the bid. Clear he didn't want to go anywhere else other then us. I'm excited to see Braeden play and hope he has good enough form to debut early.
Of the 3 though, I think Errol is the most likely to play R1. He will be a great sidekick to Paps in F50. Paps has been a bit of a one man show in applying F50 pressure but Errol will help him in this and hopefully free Paps to really hurt the opposition in attack.Comment
