There's talk that GW$ will go after Adelaide tied players (and lets hope Josh Eyre) in revenge for the way they were treated over Jye Caldwell and Jackson Hately

If the Roos hold on to pick No.2 now as expected, there could be a wildcard move in store. If the draft murmurings are true, North Melbourne list boss Scott Clayton is a big fan of Archie Perkins. It may be a big call to take the powerful and explosive midfielder-forward at pick No.2, but the same may have been said of Marcus Bontempelli one or two months out from his draft class. Would Perkins still be there for their second selection at pick No.11?

I don't have the source, but I can confirm that someone did say that Hollands would (probably?) not start till mid season, but I don't think it came from a medical source.

The Twomey-Edwards draft video today has a short interview with Hollands as well as showing him running laps and kicking the footy. He looks fine. I would think there's a very good chance that he will be ready for reserves footy at the start of the season, barring setbacks.

I found this: Cal Twomey's Phantom Form Guide: December update
"3 Elijah Hollands" ... "Easygoing and popular, Hollands has impressed recruiters with how he has taken on the knee challenge this year although he is unlikely to be back at full fitness until mid year in 2021."

It seems it was a very strategic move by Kinnear to suggest to AFL that some clubs bid in academy prospects just to make other clubs pay higher price and suggested that if they don’t match then the next pick should be the other clubs. He has suggested that with Essendon’s unique situation with three back to back picks. If Essendon calls out Campbell and Lachie Jones on their first pick then we would have to pay too much on the other hand if they do with their third pick, it would be right and good for us. He was suggesting to AFL to keep an eye and I reckon that will probably have an effect on Dodoro.

I also look at this the other way round

We are getting a pick3 and a player that is pretty much a top10 pick..... just because of our academy pick and also a top25 pick in Gulden for the same reason.

That is pretty incredible given that the 2020 draft would have been a pick 3 and pick 22ish if they were not academy players........our access prioritised and discounted just like the Bulldogs

no doubt the envy of Hawthorn is our collection of draft picks in 2020.

PS - I cant help but wonder........ if the hawks only want a midfielder with their pick4.....will they bid on Hollands, Phillips or Campbell if all 3 are available ?

I reckon with Isaac Smith gone, they dont have any elite ball users in the middle of the ground.
If they think they are contenders (LOL !) They would go for Braeden Campbell - Mind you they dont have anyone in their forward half except Gunston and Chad to mark it now....
But if they are realist and think they will contend in 3 years - they would go for Denver if we let him pass us or they may think Archie Perkins is a hybrid mid-forward the ideal way to build around.
We are miles ahead of them with our midfield and can cherry pick the players to fill holes, while they have holes everywhere. They have traded in Tom Phillips who is again - elite runner but not an elite ball user just like Tom Scully.

AG I agree with you about seeing academy bids as favouring us. We were able, when near the top of the ladder, to bring in top-10 players when our highest picks would otherwise have been 15-18. The one downside of Academy players is you don't get to choose what kind of player that is.

I don't know where Cal Twomey gets his information (probably from ringing list managers), but he's doing a live chat ATM and has this to say about our pick 3.

"Swans still strongly linked to Denver Grainger-Barras. There is a scenario where they could have to choose between Grainger-Barras and Logan McDonald and that would be a very close call."

Peter Gordon, Bulldogs President, on how list managers should handle trade period:

“I think it is a mistake especially for young players to try and blitz the trade period. You make mistakes if you go in with the idea of humiliating the other side and knocking it out of the park.“I think that a slow and steady approach to building your list is important and the ability to say no is important."

I wonder if he had any individuals in mind - the Adelaide list manager and Dodoro are a couple that come to my mind.

I know those two ADL and ESS upset GWS

Dodoro certainly not a young player. And I think he’s respected by other list managers more than the media.

As far as I can tell, all the list managers are particularly careful to be respectful of one another and the recent criticisms exchanged between GWS and Crows personnel is the exception not the rule. I guess they know they have to deal with one another year after and it is valuable to have good working relationships.

Wouldn't mind Nik Cox either, if we could somehow trade down for him, but the logistics of that might be very messy on the night; and that would only become an option, if we miss out on the higher ranked KPFs.
We can’t trade down though because those new picks would be wasted on points for Campbell.
