It’s hard to differentiate current talent from upside and potential and hence the recruiters don’t get it right all the timeComment

DGB looks like a good defensive player with good kick and speaks really well.Comment

That rules out Hollands, Thilthorpe and Bruhn.
That leaves JUH (who we will bid on if he's available), DGB, McDonald and Phillips. Because we won't get JUH, that leaves DGB, McDonald and Phillips. I would be happy with any of those three.
However, we could be in a situation where a player like Perkins becomes this year's version of Serong. I would be OK with that as long as the player we choose is a very good player in his own right. This year's draft is a bit of a lucky dip due to the lack of games played this year by many prospective draftees, especially Victorians."Unbelievable!" -- Nick Davis leaves his mark on the 2005 semi finalComment

I just cant help but wonder if we added Will Phillips to the mix at PICK 3.....would we not have a seriously destructive midfield for many years to come ie Parker, Hewett, Kennedy, Rowbottom, Florent, Stephens, Blakey, McInerney Campbell, Gulden.....We appear to have enough talls right now
We could be assembling a true "bloods team" that can hunt the ball as good as any team in the comp over many years.
As Kennedy and Parker move on on but by bit (Parker 29 and Kennedy 33 in 2021) we would have still a fierce midfield group.
It is interesting trying to guess the Hawks PICK 4..............there was reportedly 3 Hawks interviews with W.Phillips !!!
See below article on Will Phlilips and Clarko
It is arguable that Will Phiillips would certainly be a very nice compliment to the Hawks and necessary for them - T.Mitchell, Worpel, O'Meara, Howe, Scully, T.Phillips, MaGinness Henderson, Shiels, and W. PHILLIPS.
Going Places: Why Clarko blew away the best interview in the draft
"That Hawthorn interview was like 'Woah'. I came out and said 'That was unbelievable'. To have a conversation with that guy is a privilege because I've been able to see what he can do. I've seen his speeches and how well he speaks and all the great stories he has. I could pick his brain for about five hours straight I reckon, and then continue for another five hours after a break. That was pretty cool. I think he knew I was a Caulfield Grammarian and his daughter is in the same year level as me so we spoke a little bit about that."
If Phillips could pick a club to go to, it would be the Hawks, with their base a 20-minute drive from his family home in Warranwood. They have done their work on him, interviewing him multiple times as they hold pick No.4. Gold Coast at pick No.5 also looms as a possible destination, with the Bombers also showing their interest and holding three top-10 picks. Having for some time eyed Carlton as a possible destination, that was ended after the Blues traded their top choice for Adam Saad.
Many clubs rate Phillips as the best interview they have done this year, with his parents often sitting in on the chats and also being impressed with their son and learning more about him via the recruiters' questions."be tough, only when it gets tough"

Will Phillips says he'll go anywhere (of course), but would prefer to stay in Victoria. Could be a go home factor in the future, especially if he falls behind some other midfielders, like Campbell and Gulden, and doesn't get the game time he thinks he deserves. If he doesn't play much, or any, in the first year, he would miss out on $4000 a game match fee. It's a big disadvantage for a young midfielder to come to the Swans, because they are likely to miss out on a lot of money early on, which they might want to make up for with bigger contract demands afterwards.Comment

I don't see us selecting Phillips at #3. Assuming we take DGB at #3 (because Logan McDonald off the board), and then Hawthorn take Phillips, I'd still be interested in trading 2021 first rounder for whichever of Hollands or Thilthorpe is leftover. I think Gold Coast will probably want Thilthorpe if he's available. More likely than not, it's not a trade they'll do - but we shall see.
In other news, for those of us who have been ruminating over picking up Jackson Trengove as a DFA - we can stop. He has retired: https://www.zerohanger.com/former-port-and-bulldogs-defender-announces-retirement-afl-trengove-71290/.All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated, and well supported in logic and argument than others. -Douglas Adams, author (11 Mar 1952-2001)Comment

On the swans FB page, KB has indicated that he will consider redrafting Zac Foot as a rookie (see the review of the 2018 draft).
I hope he gets a second chance. The boy made it to the AFL despite a tough upbringing and looks to be a whole hearted player with a bit of zip and talent as well.Comment
