So many good performances but Rowbottom was sensational. 18 touches but majority contested. I know TheBloods thinks he doesn’t get enough of it but 18 in shortened quarters is akin to 22-25 in longer games I reckon. That and he’s only 20 and played 20 odd games. And how we wins them has to be taken into consideration. To me he looks like he’ll be our next Joe/ Parker. Love him.

Clarko press conference - well we kicked 1.5 in the last which doesn’t help. I’m Sure half of those were rushed or never going to be goals. Plus sooking about the Papley free kick goal. God I hate this little worm. Long may you suffer.

Our best win of the year and confirmation again we are on the right track.
Rampe out of this world and Paps was Paps. But Rowbottom was fantastic. You can see what Elijah Taylor will be able to do - both the goal and field kicking. Blakey was nudging back into form. Florent was better. Ling looked just fine. Dawson was terrific.
And a special nod to Aliir - best game of the year - and Robbie Fox. He’s never going to be a star but boy he has a go and does a lot right.
All of the first time winners showed something. Also, Bell warmed into the game and his tackle in the last minute was a cracker.
Really pleased for Fox - as you said, he's found his role and that bouncing and kicking out of defence is useful.Comment

@@@@ing great win.

Well said. Hard and pro-active. Doesn't let mistakes cower him. *Wants* to be the next Parker. Wants to win. Loved his game today.

And again. Well said. Clarkson hates losing to Longmire. That petulant furrowed brow in the presser just makes it all the better, Alistair.

Yes the improvement in Robbie Fox has been great this year. Rampe and Lylod were fantastic down back and Ling was serviceable in his 1st game. Papley is elite, second only to Toby Greene as a forward. Like the way Elijah Taylor moves. Still mystified why we would recruited Lewis Taylor and Sam Gray, both very poor again.Comment

How good is it? You beat Hawthorn. Get to watch Clarko make a fool of himself. And we jump over them on the ladder? It doesn't get any better!
The Clarkson sook was hysterical given Sicily and Wingard both flopped much worse than Papley earlier in the game. Oh well, LOL as one legend would have it.
Just a fab win, the players were so pumped after the game, very emotional indeed. And great performances from the leaders, the journeymen and the kids - was a treat to be there.Comment

Happy to see Bell out there again and thought he went well. Good to see Ling finally too. Thought he went alright, especially in the last quarter when Rampe had one working hand. Hope that injury isn't too serious.
Also freed Mills to go mid. I've been agnostic about that move to now, but you can see how much he enjoyed it there.
The Papley double goal was hilarious. The kind of thing that would be infuriating as an opposition supporter, but funny when it's your team.
I enjoyed the "I can snap this!" look on ET's face - that sudden confidence moment.
Can't help but wonder how different the team would look if Reid had been fully-fit all these years.
Good intent from pretty much everyone I thought, hard at the ball, kept coming, just good that they went at it and got the win.

I thought Lyon was a huge improvement over BT and Bruce last week.
Parker, Papley, Rampe, Rowbottom etc all deserve ple plaudits they received.
But I thought James Bell was a bit of an Unsung hero of the game. He brought great presence and hardness to a team of lightweight Cygnets that could have been brushed away. Leadership from a 3rd gamer.Comment

Agree . I also thought gray showed a bit too. Played more modified and didn’t dominate bit when he did get it made
some sensible decisions. If we want to win games we need some guys like these two. Not match winners but contribute enough when they get the ball to help the cause.

What a happy bunch of RWOers we are at the moment.
12 hours and no sign of the "Changes for Round 9" thread - amazing what a win like that can do.Last edited by Ruck'n'Roll; 26 July 2020, 08:16 AM.Comment

At half time we were way down on contested possessions but by the end of the game only down 10. I thought this pretty much won the game for us. We were much harder at it in the 2nd half led by Parker, Rowbottom and Clarke. His disposal needs a fair bit of work but he won a lot of hard ball gets in the 2nd half. Rowbottom was getting to so many contests and frankly was the only one who looked like getting a centre clearance. If we lost that game it would have been purely off centre clearance work. When they showed the set ups from down the ground we were always behind our opponents. If we are in front we get the first go at the footy. And we started to run to space. How good was it when the backs cleared it to a player on wing the miles on their own.
Much better game by Cunningham, Florent and Blakey. How did he drop that sitter in the last minute. We would have iced the game at that point.
Reid and McCartin gave us some structure.
Mills on the ball was a quiet achiever.
Just got to keep playing the boys. Ling was cool under pressure in that last quarter.
How do we replace Rampe and Lloyd was outstanding. These guys read the ball coming in so well and position themselves so well.

Yep, and he has sooked about our defensive tactics in the past. I reckon he thinks if he whinges he will get a better go next week. It's very hard to live in a studio apartment in San Jose with a man who's learning to play violin. That's what she told the police when she handed them the empty revolver.

Most RWO posters seem a bit down on Squizzy. I think he's been solid in most games he's played albeit not spectacular. He had 14 possessions yesterday and most of them pretty good ones at that. I also notice him doing plenty of the ball. Off the top of my head, he's the only one other than Paps who has kicked more than 2 goals in a game this season (3 v Essendon) and most games has got into double digits for possessions. He's certainly not in Papley or Greene's league but he's contributing and should get better with Reid and McCartain back.
Sam Gray has been less productive but had some nice touches yesterday. However, once Hayward is fit, he would be the one to drop out in my opinion.
I think it's unfortunate for both Gray and Taylor that they are being judged against a very high bench mark (Papley).Comment
