Quaynor will be ok to play next week! It was disgraceful, took away our momentum and gave the Pies players the rest they needed. Be interesting to see what Quaynor has actually done that needed the hearse cart speed.

Umpiring was dreadful, and I rarely complain about umpires, but what do you expect from Stevic and that Pie barracking chick.

And people blowing up about the cart need to take a breath. Looks like a serious injury and the medicos weren't doing that for any reason but for the best interests of the injured player. Stay classy RWO.
You just needed to look at the incredulous look on the player's face to see it was a con job.

I really hope not, but he did seem to be smiling a lot. If you are right, that has to be one of the lowest of low moves. Regardless of the genuineness of the incident it left a sour taste in the mouth

Very clever of them if it was. I look forward into the AFL's enquiry into the incident.

Taylor got a 50 for coming from behind the mark. Mihocek did exactly the same in the last quarter. For an eternity 2 players were on the mark.

              A truly weird game.

We should never have won it, and then we should never have lost it. But the umpires made sure we did. The Swans should at least privately kick up a stink about some of the non-decisions, particularly those in our forward 50.

Having said that, Stephens has me loving life, and Rowbottom and Lloyd were terrific. And the way we tried to play after the first quarter was good.

There were some clear teachable moments for Taylor, but that’s ok. That’ll happen with young players.

Good on you Thurlow. I must admit that I thought his card had been marked. However, he must’ve worked extremely hard to regain trust and confidence in the tram to be given another crack. Just like Robbie Fox, I love how effort and perseverance can be rewarded.

Other positives include Wicks and Stephens. Wicks’ pressure and tackling was fantastic. Nothing like a specialist small forward.

I think Ling and ET might need to be managed even if we do have the bye.

Overall, we were outplayed but so we should’ve when you look at the teams on paper. I’m happy with the effort.

And lo and behold that mantra continued for the entire game.

That Pie supporting chick had a real dislike for us. I counted only one free kick from her for the entire match.

On the positive side, I thought it was an excellent debut from Wicks. Supplied plenty of pressure and I was really pleased that he also got a goal. There were a few turnovers that he caused from second and third efforts. Papley's goal was largely down to him. Bell also applied plenty of pressure and continues to look like he's worthy of his spot. I think him and Wicks developed a hard edge to their games in the NEAFL last year. That is, they both started out as outside players, but due to injuries, they spent plenty of time as inside mids. Against Brisbane, and to a lesser extent, GWS, this meant they were battling for quarter after quarter, against mature bodies, who would probably be in the seniors for most sides. And they kept battling till the final siren, even though the game had been lost long before that. Now I think that, that pressure may have formed a couple of rough diamonds.

I hate losing to the Pies and especially when Stevic is umpiring but I must admit that female umpire must have black and white buried in her brain as she gave them every chance to win. I would love to see the stats on how many frees she gave the pies and Swans.

Plus that debacle with the stretcher slow funeral pace and the player smiling while his leg is supposedly broken - what Th F...........

I'm undecided as to whether the introduction of the cart, or Reid's shot at goal was the turning point.

Yes, I noticed that. Two players, one of them on the mark, one of them a couple of metres in front of the mark.

However, the 50 metre rules, in general, drive me insane. They get paid fairly randomly for minor infringements, like stepping over the mark or being in the protected zone, yet for major infringements, there's usually no 50. Some teams seemed trained to rugby tackle anyone who takes a mark, but most of the time, that's okay, even though it obviously slows the play. And the one that really does my head in, is when there's a free for against a player caught holding the ball, but then they're allowed to wrestle with the tackling player, for up to 20 seconds or so, and invariably, that's not adjudged to be holding up the play. But wandering into the protected zone, without holding up the play for a millisecond: 50 metres!

No no, its just frustrating when you know someone with an easy set shot isnt going to kick it
