Yes Stevo you are right, I worded that poorly. I just feel that it is right to condemn violence against women as strongly as we condemn racism. No excuses, no justifying. No place at our club or in society.
Re: the “facts”, well they aren’t facts, these were the disturbing allegations levelled on social media by his ex partner Lekahni Pearce ( who was the one involved in the quarantine breach in WA ) . It is unclear if that is the incident he has been charged over, there is conflicting media reports in regard to this. An article in the age says they were two seperate incidents ( one in a Sydney, one in Perth) , another article via the abc suggests the charge relates directly to the Pearce allegations on social media. So I shouldn’t have posted them as the facts being they are allegations and it’s unclear if the charge relates to those allegations, or to a seperate incident. Either way you cut it up though it doesn’t look great for Taylor and I don’t ever want to see him in a swans jumper again. And we should be far more concerned about the welfare of the victim than that of the perpetrator.Comment

Needless to say I feel sorry for the victim first and foremost. DV is something that is completely unacceptable to society and should be unacceptable to everyone.
I hope for the young man that he:
a) apologises publicly to the victim;
b) takes the punishment (whatever form that may be) on chin including any redress to the victim;
c) learns from his mistake; and
d) never does this thing again.
Lastly, I believe in redemption, so should he do the things a) to d) above, I trust that he is afforded a second chance in society and maybe even football.Comment

Obviously, not knowing the terms of Taylor's contract, but from a legal and monetary point of view, I'm going with the view that the rest of the contract (in terms of $$$) could be used to either re-sign Fox or to be allocated for another player who could potentially be in the mix (depending on the outcome of the drafts etc)?Comment

Another idiotic cancel culture decision encouraged by outside influences. I hope Elijah has much success at another football club. Disgraceful decision on such a young man.Comment

I think the official parting of ways with Elijah constitutes a termination for cause, although this was never directly stated with those words, yet.
I believe that brings the senior list number down to 32 before the draft. We've assumed that the Swans will add 3 players in the ND raising the number to 35, still 1 short of the minimum. Everything involving list sizes is a bit foggy with the AFL modifying their position on a daily basis. It looks to me that we will have 1 more senior spot to fill. I'm not sure if this has to be done prior to the draft, or if ET stays on the senior list in 2021 for technical reasons.Comment

Couldn't see the club making any other decision. I wonder if his $ for next year will have to be included in our cap

Well said, Syd76. I think it's the safest decision. Here's hoping that all involved find the resilience and support to bounce back.
I have no doubt Elijah was terminated for cause. I am unsure why we have left it so long although it sounds as though some negotiations were necessary. Clearly, we wanted to have it resolved before he is sentenced and probably also with time to refill the list spot.All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated, and well supported in logic and argument than others. -Douglas Adams, author (11 Mar 1952-2001)Comment
