This really could not finish any other way.
Swans' responsibility to their staff, their supporters. their sponsors and the public left them with little choice.
My thoughts are with the victim.
Taylor needs to do a lot of re-asessing, but that is not the Football Team's responsibility.

Such a pity. Saw this coming back in September.
To have kept him on, would have been condoning violence against women.
He could have been a gun, long-term player, if only he had kept his hands to himself.
Violence against women is just not on.
      (Really, violence against anyone.)

The club has done the right thing.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

I reckon his papers were marked after the Covid breach....

I hope he can get himself sorted out enough to become the footballer he promises to be. I'd be happy to applaud him if he can grow and turn his life around as a result of all this. There was just no way he could stay on at the Swans as a result of his actions this year - sad as it is to see someone with that talent go.

A lot of parties to this decision, not just the club.

I think it is the right decision.

Great decision by the club. The covid breach was bad enough but violence against women can never be tolerated. I just hope that he wasn't paid out for next year because he doesn't deserve it and has already cost the club $50k in our salary cap.

Pretty disgusted in all the supporters that have condemned this kid. Of course all those supporters have been perfect all their life and never done anything they regretted?

Okay, done and dusted with ET.

What happens now with Qatar airlines and their victims?
                Also their stance on homophobia?
Why has this not been something to be outraged by all?

                Get it out there Annie.

Cancel culture? How is it wrong and 'idiotic' to treat violence against women as the disgusting inexcusable action it is.....and to want to 'cancel' it from societal behaviour? Please explain your thoughts.....

Who are these 'outside influences' you speak of? Maybe they are simply the majority of society?

Of course, we all hope Elijah improves as a human being.....but I feel the majority of us would be uncomfortable with our club virtually rewarding his behaviour by removing any professional consequence.

Rather than being 'disgraceful', our club again maintains it's integrity by actually moving with the times and showing that it is not stuck in an enabling 'blokey' past.

It appears some of our fans need to do the same....

In case you have not worked it out, he is being punished for his indiscretion and will pay a price, but to wipe his future out for one mistake is a disgrace. Of course you are Mr Perfect.

Maybe time this thread was locked or deleted. We all have opinions but there's nothing to be gained by continuing to express them here about this EX Swans player.

Suggest you move over to the draft thread where it's much more interesting, non threatening and will set the course for the club at the draft next week when they note our opinions :-)

A bit of violence now and then never hurt anybody (just a figure of speech). Personally, I prefer A Clockwork Orange rehab approach. But I'm not sure if this would mean that ET would have to be traded to GWS.

But it's not just one mistake. There is also the quarantine breach that was planned and executed even after he was specifically spoken to beforehand. Plus in the club statement when he was initially stood down there was mention that he failed to abide by club directives on a number of occasions this year. So he has had more than one chance.

Not sure how people are defending domestic violence in this thread. Kinda embarrassing. Hope a mod comes and locks it soon...

Who knows what the conversations between ET and the club entailed? Perhaps there was an element of choice on his behalf too. Having seen what's required to be a professional athlete, perhaps he figured, with everything else going on in his life, he'd be better off stepping away from the Swans to sort himself out.

We'll probably never know, but at least most responses on here have had a measure of sympathy for him and hope that he can get his life back on track eventually.
