I don't think John leaving will affect Nick. He's contracted through 2022 and will be 23 yo at the start of the 2023 season. I don't think moving back with Mum will be a big motivating factor for him. His friends are from Sydney. I think Nick will be a one club player.

I don’t think anybody has a clue. But I don’t think that many 20 year olds would leave town to follow their dad.

Agreed - Nicks grown up here , his home is Sydney, North is just the club his dad used to play for so probably holds little sentimental value for him. Only opportunity would be if Nick wasnt being looked after by the Swans then North might get the inside mail on him being unhappy.

          Ummmmmm.
So now we're becoming a feeder club for coaches.
That's a testament to how good a coach Horse is... all the other teams want our assistants. Again.

Really sad that Blakey is going to norfs.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

Your assertion that by mere contemplation of Blakey leaving is showing disloyalty is naive. It's the ostrich approach of sticking your head in the sand and applying standards from a bygone era. We are in 2020, where a contract means nothing, both to clubs and players, ready to be broken.

And for the record, I want Blakey to stay. Whenever others here have been getting stuck into him, I have been a believer, in particular of him as a midfielder. I like the fact he is an academy player, which gives NSW players someone to aspire to. Hopefully he will have a long and successful career with us. But don't even think for a second North have not already asked the question.
            Fair comment.

I think Pyke is a good addition to our coaching panel. He's coached at the highest level and even though they lost the GF, got the Crows there.

Very happy with Pike joining us. Before all that off season camp crap I thought he was a pretty good coach. Happy he is one of our assistants now. He has a lot of experience.

It's very hard to know from the outside looking in whether he's a good coach or not, but he picked up the Crows after the awful death of Phil Walsh, played very effective attacking football and took them to a Grand Final. Has his role been defined yet?

Delighted about the announcement - knew Don a lifetime ago in Perth cricketing days and he was a quality bloke with a good head on his shoulders.

His dad Frank did a lot of work with Dennis Lillee's rehab?

And is a pretty decent golfer, plays off 2 or something apparently.

Highly regarded at the Crows before it went pear shaped after the ill fated camp. Crows is a club where there's a lot of interference from the board and management, very inbred club.

Will be a good addition having coached a team into a GF, think they were minor Premiers as well.

About time we got another assistant without the training wheels.
