Did I hear the commentators correctly Sam grey pulled out of the rest of the match to be emergency for the main game ..not sure how that works
Stephens listed in our emergencies but not the reserves. We all assumed he was the medical sub. But the commentator did say Gray has been withdrawn to be the sub now. 2 possibilities:
    1) Stephens injured, replaced by Gray
    2) Stephens into firsts for a late injury, Gray in as medical sub.

Cordell going alright ...he kicked those goals last quarter and now playing defence ..2 great tackles on separate plays and a clever handball
              Mccartin tiring a little
Brand looks like a very good organise of the defence ..he seems to be in charge of a very inexperienced defence bit a very good defensive unit
Sheather putting good pressure on around the ball
              84 to 64 swans 21

Love Bell’s physicality ...when he develops more poise which he’s doing he’ll play a lot of firsts ...he also seems to be the natural leader out there

Thought that Bell was really impressive today. Hope he can convert it to the seniors

                  Yeh we win
                  15.6.96 to 10.10.70
                  Standouts for me
                  Bell and McLean
                  Carruthers really promising
                  O’Connor also
                  Cordell did everything right
                  Sheather and Thorne also
                  Morrison goaled his chances

Defence we have a lot of good depth and really well organised by Brand
Ling did a few goof things late on and even Gould had a classy tap on

                  - - - Updated - - -

Bells starting to have more poise and classy moments to go with his obvious strengths of physicality and running ..I think he’ll be a leader at some stage down the track in his career

Haven't heard any comments on Gould. How is he doing?

I wouldn't be surprised if Carruthers turns out okay. We usually do well with our 1st rookie pick.

The positive comments on O'Connor is nice to hear. Bodes well for our KPPs and we can be less concerned about how Melican does.

Solid win in the end, rather than emphatic. Giants upped their cohesion in the second half and the Swans’ cohesion dipped a bit. But still plenty of individual efforts / plays to warm the soul.

I’ll add some comments on individual players later tonight when I get home.

I was really looking out for Gould but just didn't notice him. The camera angles were not great, so hard to know if he was contributing off ball but of the big defenders (Brand, O'Connor, McCartin), he did seem the quietest.
Squizz, Bell and COR all played well. Rowbottom did some nice things and seemed to run out the game ok. Clarke found plenty of it but his composure was lacking and disposal poor alot of the time. I think the only way he gets a run in firsts is to tag.
Amartey and McLean were excellent tall targets and I was impressed by the ground work by the top ups, crumbling off our big boys.

I had to work this morning and it wound up carrying through until half-time of the ressies match. So, instead of getting and watching it live I have watched the second half on Kayo (Freebies).

I largely agree with joeykanga's summation. Bell looked a little bit of a cut above most of them. McLean worked hard and got on the end of a couple. Sheather did alright while I was watching and the commentators kept commenting on how involved he'd been all day. Carruthers looked classy. Cordell did very well. Rowy ran out the game alright. Paddy Mc was a little underdone playing mostly down back from what I could tell - perhaps unsurprising after a couple of years out of the game. Jesse Hogan for the Giants looked a fair bit better. It's no wonder that no club listed Paddy at this early stage. Now he gets his chance to run around this year and build his form.

All that said, there was no one I saw and thought "Geez, we've got to get them into the firsts". I was not terribly impressed by our defenders. Neither of COR nor Ling looked as incisive as I might have hoped. Gould did some good things at times and was beaten by his man at other times. Brand was ok, McCartin mediocre. Elsewhere on the ground, Amartey didn't do much. Sinclair is looking like he's a bit ageing and frayed - we got Hickey in the nick of time. Taylor and Clarke were useful without doing anything to suggest they need to play firsts footy. Morrison got three goals.

In short, we got the win against a young and inexperienced Giants side who had fewer listed players.
All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated, and well supported in logic and argument than others. -Douglas Adams, author (11 Mar 1952-2001)

I think Gould will be ok ...it’ll just take time ...he did some nice things and defence is hard ...he was maybe a little behind in some contests but he worked well in the defensive six that were out there
As Longmire just learning the craft
He did a classy tap out to Ling and maybe we put too much pressure on players who are high draft picks
