You'd only consider trading him if it was in exchange for a pick 1-8 in return.
Agree Barry - I think Stephens is doing fine for where he is in his career. Just like many of other youngsters are doing fine for where they are in their careers (and even better, a few are arguably in front of where they would have been expected to be).

Any truth about Naismith getting injured again ?

Stephens is a bit of a disappointment to me. I seem to recall he was expected to be drafted around 10, so he was a surprise pick at 5. Given his mediocre progress, I suspect you'd get nothing more than a second rounder for him at the trade table. Good endurance, tidy but not impactful. Better to hold, and keep your fingers crossed he improves.

I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again...I can’t believe that players picked up in the mid season draft can stay at that club. It should literally be for the rest of the season to fill “needs” and then they go back in the draft

Trouble is, its a bit much to ask a player to move cities for 3-4 months work. All these guys who arent in the AFL, but are AFL-ready (meaning over 20 years old) have jobs/familiies in their home state.

i dont mind finding ways for young footy players to move onto an AFL list, other than just the end of season drafts.

this thinking seems to be in alignment with opportunity to live your dream if you keep going and dont give in.

Probably not the correct place for this post but an interesting rumour on Big Footy about a meeting with Patrick Cripps .
Would he be a good fit or are we well enough stocked for midfielders ?

Mmm no, I’ve been an actor and musician for over 30 years....4 months is a great gig. If any performer in Australia got offered a 4 month stint in “Hamilton” (the musical not the city!) whilst someone was injured they would leap with open arms (for waaaay less money BTW) so really I think is not a problem. Side note FFS millionaires going on tour for a few months without seeing your family is just par for the course for entertainers...I was on a 2 1/2 year tour of Australia and New Zealand...some of the cast had children and some of the cast were 17! Nobody moaned about “homesickness” or needing “mummy’s cooking” like a few precious footy prima donnas did last year. Honestly it’s pathetic.

It's the leaving your current job for 4 months that's the problem.

He’s a free agent at year’s end. Cost us nothing except salary.

A good fit; he'd take over from Joey, who's six years older than Cripps.

Seems Cripps is still unsigned by Carlton for next year: Off the table: Free agent Cat Jake Kolodjashnij to ink new deal.

Absolutely gun midfielder. How much would his salary be though?

It seems highly unlikely but a good runour to float!
