Sure we got Buddy to help win a premiership but just as important to get bums on seats. On the ground he is such a big personality. IMHO his great quality is his absolutely love and dedication to the game. He is a marque player that has the right character to assist those around him.

If fit I think he could play on due to his love of the game, just playing. Maybe limited games and limited contract.

His player manager won't allow that. His commission would drop dramatically.

I’m no expert in this area, but I’m pretty sure Buddy’s manager is female and I imagine she’s more interested in the money she can make from him off the field...

Like all player managers, female or male.

Surely his manager is pretty stoked with the decent cut they would have made over the past 15 years to be too worried if he does want to play on for a final season on a fraction of the money.

Great to Buddy seemingly relatively fit and enjoying his footy. Might just run out of games, but a couple of decent bags of 5/6 (next week please to start with!) and he might sneak to 1000 this year too!

Apologies, I can see why my post may have been misconstrued. I wasn’t attempting to imply that the manager’s gender would shape the management approach.

I was correcting you on referring to ‘him’ and then musing that he signed with his current manager after securing his big footy deal. IIRC his current manager is better known for managing artists and celebrities and that she may be more interested in earning commission from him off the field (prefacing by saying that I don’t really know what I’m talking about)

Liam Pickering was his player agent when he came to us.

We do need to bolster our tall forwards, but there is a lot to play out over the course of the next year and a half. We should have a better idea of the value of both McLean and Amartey by the end of next season. We will have 2 more trade periods and 2 drafts to add to our KPP stocks. And who knows what will be with both Buddy and Reid on the injury front.

There is a story on the Swans' website about our academy which mentioned a CHB prospect named Liam Puncher (no relation to Paddy McCartin). That's yet another avenue to add to our KPP stocks.

If we have this discussion a year form now, I'm pretty sure the circumstances will be substantially different.
That sly line re the young Academy kid is a total winner.

Now, in all seriousness, a KPD coming through the Academy? A nice tall complement to McCartin? Where do we have a gaping hole in our list?

Who knows anything else about him, and do tell.

Well, the choice will be a smaller commission.....or none at all.

I think we need to go on the attack against a few old foes - trading wise. Carlton tried to steal Papley so I have them in my sights.

Players on big coin at Carlton - McGovern, Williams, Saad, Martin. All pretty average though Saad can be good. Carlton need to re-sign Cripps who won't be cheap.

They also need to secure McKay and not sure about Walsh's status. A contract means nothing as we well know.

Offer McKay - to replace Buddy the big big coin. Offer Walsh (to bolster our midfield) probably 800K * 4-5 years. He hasnt missed a game so not injury prone.

Collingwood as we know are in big trouble cap wise - can anyone suggest a player worth targeting? We only have 1 more year of Buddy's contract so we can back load any new contracts a fair bit.

I guess one more KPD would be handy too.

Can’t see Carlton letting McKay go- he is practically their main/only weapon up forward and without him they struggle big time.

If Walsh is gettable, he would be the ideal midfielder for us and help with our clearances, thus creating a lot of extra opportunities for our forwards. A top KPD and we’re well and truely top 4. Now I’m dreaming..........

Apart from trying to pinch Papley, the did steal Rhys- Jones, Evans and Greg Williams. They owe us a big fish. For many years, a very arrogant club.

The danger with landing a big fish is that our impressive school of fingerlings will need to be adequately fed when they grow into bigger fish.
