Would up swapping both our first 2 picks be an option with the crows e.g 12 & 31 to the crows for picks 4 & 23? Would that option serve us well or is it better to get an outright pick?

        Ludddy Van

agree if we use that Pick for a trade......... if we have the money

I think we are in the window 2022 ...............I suspect we are an outside chance 2023 with no Bud or Kennedy or on their way out in dominance

Strengthening our opportunities for success in 2022 for me is priority 1 then everything else is Plan B for 2024 and beyond when players like McDonald may get 40 plus goals

Does anyone think we should try and get Ben Davis as steak knives as part of the JD deal.

A Swans academy prospect who found his way onto an AFL list despite the Swans not taking him.

          Good character.

I’ll leave to Ludwig to assess Ben Davis as his knowledge of other clubs players is 1st rate.

But I also feel the player has a date limited product with his skill.

Is it fair to say he should obtain the maximum benefit from marketing that skill?

It's ok for the rest of us. More money, a location we might prefer, family preferences all play a part.

And it always gnaws at me that they are always just one bump away from a career ending incident.

Shouldnt they be allowed to move on without vitriol?

I put this out more for your thoughts than as a 100% committed opinion.
I'm a fan. I'm passionate about our club. I don't have to always be reasonable and rational. The twerp lied. So, no, screw him. I hope he endures playing in a side that is at least three years from making finals. And when we play them next year, I hope Will Gould is on the park and sends him flying into next week with a brutal bump.

What a disappointing post towards a player who has given the Swans good service.

This post will live long in the memory for its bitterness and irrationality.

Pick 4 (6) would allow us the pick of the KP players if that's our priority.

I'd settle for pick 23 (25) and next years second rounder OR next years first rounder as I doubt Cows are moving up from the bottom 4, just don't see that much upside in their squad although should regain Matt Crouch. Think Cows would do the two seconds fairly quickly although some of their idiot posters on BF are insisting they should push Dawson to the PSD if we ask for more than just pick 23

Way too emotional, irrational and nasty for me - unless we don't get a decent trade from the Cows!!

Of course it’s bitter and irrational. I’m perfectly happy to come on here and be considered about all sorts of things. But when a player - who by the way gave us 18 months of good service over a six year investment by the club - lies, walks out and jeopardises our chance of winning a flag in the next five years, then I’m going to feel how I feel. I know this is the way it’s done now, and clubs can be brutal too, but I don’t give two hoots. And I certainly don’t give two hoots if someone thinks poorly of me for it.

My first preference is the trade fall over and Dawson stay with us for another couple of seasons.
Failing that, I'd love pick 4 to be part of it and I would be happy to swap Dawson and 12 with a little bit of tidying up to balance the trade out. I can't see it happening though.

Looking at the draft order, I wouldn't be surprised if us, the Adelaide and the Western Bulldogs come to some arrangement that sees Dawson in Adelaide, the Bulldogs move back in the draft but with more points for Darcy and the Swans with two first rounders.

Taking the animosity out of the equation of uninformed’s post, it’s probably a rational(ish) post as a Swans supporter.

The player did say that Swans fans had nothing to worry about - with hindsight, this was an untruth

Many Swans supporters really wouldn’t wish success for any other side as realistically it’s at the expense of the Swans (there are a few exceptions on here who seem to have a soft spot for GW$, but they are a minority). So wishing 3 years of failure upon any football side not adorning red and white isn’t unreasonable

While thuggery isn’t generally condoned, there are some older supporters who lament the lacking physicality of the modern game and wouldn’t be adverse to an opponent receiving some physical treatment (Dawson or otherwise).

Dawson has given us good service. Great service. He’s been paid accordingly and adored accordingly. Once/when/if he leaves, he owes the club nothing and likewise the Swans supporter base owes him nothing. He’s really just another player who we need to nullify on the day to take the 4 points

But I’ll leave it to the Devine wisdom of Ludwig and TB to adjudicate this debate as they are all knowing on all things football and RWO should be bowed down to, with some appropriate sacrifice made to them

Agree with Nico about Davis. He is a big chance to be delisted by Adelaide so I'm sure that they would love to trade him to us for Dawson.

I forgot which one it was, but Ben Davis played one good game in his career. It must have been the game he got 14 possessions. He must have partied all night after that. Abe is the one with all the talent. Once I finish writing all those other books that I say I'm going to write, I will have to write one on the Davis Brothers. There's something odd there, but I can't put my finger on it.
