Those numbers are never brought up back the AFL's Vic-centric media.

I'd love to know how many players who originated from NSW asked to be traded back to Sydney because they wanted to come home. I have a vague feeling that Nick Davis was one of those, but I could be wrong. Does anyone know?

seems like we nay get screwed again. Port or ladhams or both didnt want a bar of us last year. Now they want us to pay for an inflated final year of contract and let him come to us for a first rounder. tell them to stick it/ Maybe horse or Nic b should ring john B at orth and ask him to throw out a line thet North would be keen on JD in psd. and then tell them all to get knicked.

If North have a desire to pick up Dawson via the PSD, wouldn't it be in their best interest to keep this to themselves & not let this be known to Dawson/Crows or Swans?

Would need to let the Swans know or they might do a poor trade with the Crows however the Swans would use that as a bargaining chip with the Crows, Ends up a game of bluff and double bluff. We will know tomorrow.

I see this morning that Collingwood is preparing to 'steal' Bobby Hill from Essendon.

The Pies and Carlton both clearly have a Dungeons & Dragons "Bag of Holding" that contains unlimited gems, rubies etc! Did they not sell off players last year due to cap problems?

They are still paying Treloar's salary for a start.

The Barassi line has been known for years. It divides Australia into rugby league territory (NSW and Qld) and Australian football (everywhere else).

Let's get these done. Melbourne's future first for Dawson and a second rounder for Ladhams.
I would assume the most concerned player on our list right now would be Sam Reid. Ladham's recruitment would mean his position (on the field, not the treatment table) would be taken.

This is what Swans management dread, when matched with the loss of COLA. A gradual erosion - bit by bit, player loss by player loss, diminished draft hand due to a poor negotiating position - to be competitive. We're one of the best run clubs in the comp, but that can't sustain a buffer against the meta forces working against us.

It's part of the reason they are highly frustrated and disappointed with the way the young fella has handled himself on the way out, and compromised our ability to get the best return possible.

I didn't go farther back than 2005 because the draft has changed a lot since then. No Academies, no trading of future picks.

The point was to show that we have been fairly consistent in participation in the first round of the draft. Contrast that with clubs who trade out first-round picks so they can trade in players.

                    Hawthorn: 2020 - 6; 2019 - 13; 2018 - none; 2017 - none; 2016 - none; 2015 - 19, 22; 2014 - none; 2013 - none; 2012 - none; 2011 - none. 4 first-round picks in 10 years.

Yes indeed Liz, kids from SA are in danger of losing their safe investment status.
As to recruit only NSW kids.
                        1) Some parts of Southern NSW are distinctly more Melbourne than Sydney centred.
                        2) I believe we had to increase our offer to Heeney last time around because North were throwing round big offer.

Perhaps we should focus on kids from non english speaking backgrounds, and impede their language development? "Ivan make basket"

Unlike last year we cannot move players directly to the rookie list. Need to be delisted and redrafted. Maybe GWS still need a Sam Reid and could give us something now the Lobb deal has fallen through.

I have a hunch Wicks might have wanted to see if there was any interest in the trade period, so won't sign until afterwards. Could be completely wrong.
