I think the Swans move on.Comment

I love it. Out of interest TheBloods, have you coached some football teams in your time?
You seem like the sort of coach I would have loved. You would have given me a half time tirade that would have had me shaking. I would have then run out after half time fired up looking to atone. I would have run harder, tackled harder and been more accountable.
I loved a good dressing down and you would a given storming dressing down.
Just kidding………………. But you are funny, Bangalore!Comment

I'm astounded he hasn't gone already.

Ronke may have been offered around during Trade week but didn’t seem to arouse sufficient interest from the Crows- in the end they decided to opt for Dawso, but it took right up until the last day, so it must have been a close thing!Comment

Well, there's a good chance they may not have landed him at all. He'd be able to puta price on his head and I guess that may have scared some clubs off. If he puts a high enough p[rice on his head I guess he can be confident about landing at the Crows but not entirely sure and the Crows would at least have to fork up a decent pick. WHat would happen in reality I feel is create enough uncertainty to force clubs to offer fair deals. Of course if the selling club is unreasonable then you send him to the draft and take your chances
I suspect a number of clubs with cap space would have had a go in the first round. Adelaide would have had to spolit their pick 4 I feel to get him and would have paid close to top 10 I feel.
The AFL have got to do something about this, especially if they pull this stunt again to shaft the Suns.Comment

I had forgotten about Clarke."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

Secondly, so what? If all those clubs knocked him back and felt he wasn’t value before pick 30 then that is what the market at the time determined what he was worth. The fact he subsequently won a flag with the Pies is irrelevant
I’d suggest if we’d refused to play ball with Adelaide and been able to send him to the ND rather than the PSD he would have been a top 10-12 regardless of his salary demands. And we would have gotten a much better deal out of Adelaide as they would have known this
The current system stinks and it will only be when a big Melbourne Club gets royally screwed that it’s changedComment

For starters this is over 10 years ago and we’ve moved on.

I've found that these things are often unclear until the official AFL season guides appear in the New Year when you can finally see who is still on the rookie list. Covid has meant the AFL has been bending the two year and one third year rules for rookies.Comment

Does the rookie list mean anything these days apart from 50% being outside the salary cap (up to $80K)?All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated, and well supported in logic and argument than others. -Douglas Adams, author (11 Mar 1952-2001)Comment

I see Wicks as having huge upside. A little more polish and output in front of goal and he will be a very very valuable player.
And like you I like his aggressive approach.
We're really building a good local core now - Rampe, Heeney, Mills, Blakey, Gulden, Campbell and now Wicks. Bell is growing too and maybe Sheather next year. It would be a remarkable result if we could get 50% or more Academy kids on our listComment
