To return this to the thread purpose and not all about an individual poster, have a look at the kick on this young bloke:

I’d be more than happy if he slid to our first pick.Comment

OK I’ve completely changed my mind. I really want us to find a long term partner for Logan. If we do that we can really set up for a decade. Someone earlier in the thread said that you don’t need two tall forwards. That’s very rarely true (I’m looking at you LRT 2012) because….
Riewoldt/ Lynch
Brown/McDonald
Kennedy/Darling
O’Loughlin/Hall
Franklin/Roughead
A. Lynch/J. Brown
Lloyd and that other bastard who won a game against us in the last seconds at Colonial
Also someone said (in relation to me saying we need a ball winning midfielder) that they’re all ball winners. That’s not true either. Some are ball getters or ball receivers (primarily).
So I want Amiss, van Rooyen or Williams (in that order). Any would be awesome. PROPER KP forwards who can kick straight even when there are big sticks in your vision.
Of the midfielders I’m most excited about Goater (still) in our range…but really like Matthew Johnson. Both will be gone by 33. So if we get KPF I’d probably go for Warner next"I'll acknowledge there are more talented teams in the competition but I won't acknowledge that there is a better team in the competition" Paul Roos March 2005Comment

I'm not convinced by your list of forward pairings. I don't think Reiwoldt and Lynch have worked out all that well. It's not often that both have clicked together in the same game. The pairings worked well when the players had different skill sets and game styles. Franklin and Roughead were a good pairing because Roughy played like an oversized midfielder and they didn't compete for the ball in the same way. Same with Hall and Micky O.
If Hickey stays fit, then we should see how Ladhams plays in a forward line with more prominent targets, especially how he teams up with McDonald.
Both McLean and Amartey are still developing and at least one should make it as a solid #2 key forward. The main thing for us long term is not to lose McDonald to another club.
Jye Amiss is almost certain to go well before our pick. Richmond picks before us and might take VanRooyen, given that they have an earlier pick to spend on a midfielder plus the retirement of David Astbury and the delisting of Garthwaite make them look thin down back. So I think we may let the KPD go until later picks and hope for the best. We're still waiting on a decision about Paddy, which would alter our priorities.
Darcy Wilmot, who Twomey ranks as #19, could be a good addition to our small defenders and a possible longer term replacement for either Lloyd or Cunningham a few years down the road.Comment

I know COVID has thrown a huge spanner in the works but as a rule we know of any academy guns way well in advance.
Heeney, Mills, Blakey, Gulden and Campbell were all highly touted more than 12 months out. They may well have a great year but they're equally as likely to go the way of kids like Nick Brewer, Jackson Barling and Josh Rayner....Comment
