Is it really news that we are considering signing Paddy? I think that's been common knowledge for a while. A statement of higher commitment would be something new. I realise that it's not in our interest to broadcast a plans for Paddy, as that would tip off other clubs as to our draft strategy. So I'm not expecting any public statement. I'm wondering if we are considering taking him in the supplemental draft after we know who we've actually drafted in the ND.
I also hope that we give Paddy a shot with us, and that barring concussion problems, he should be a good addition to our list.
I would like to know how Paddy fits in with our draft plans and how the draft eventuates for us. I think we will take a KPD with one of our 3 ND picks, but where in the draft is hard to say.Comment

I agree that it’s largely weasel wording, but it is the first time I’ve seen a report that we might pick him up.Comment

I would love to see Paddy Mac playing in defence alongside his brother to add a bit of height in the backline.
If we could get Corey Warner as well, that would be two sets of brothers in the same side. When was the last time we had two pairs of brothers on our list?"Unbelievable!" -- Nick Davis leaves his mark on the 2005 semi finalComment

SEN are also mentioning the channel 9 report. This doesn't have any new information but I'll post the link anyway.

There's a write-up of Darcy Wilmot, a draft prospect I find really appealing to be our future lockdown small defender: How dashing Darcy Wilmot is hoping to follow in his father's footsteps (afl.com.au). It's strange to consider using our first rounder to recruit for a relatively low profile role in the team but if he turned out to be the next Smooch it would be worth it.All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated, and well supported in logic and argument than others. -Douglas Adams, author (11 Mar 1952-2001)Comment

I think that if we take Paddy it maybe reduces the chance that the KPD we draft is one of the mature aged prospects (like Dean or Schlensog). I'd still be happy if we draft Alleer although I think he'll be gone by our second pick. Is there any chance we'd take him with our first rounder? I suspect not. I hope we just take whoever we rate best available. Although I'd also be open to trading back if we're not super excited by who's on offer when we get there e.g. 16 (actually 18) & 39 for 25 & 26 or something.

Can someone correct me if I'm wrong here. Various media outlets have suggested that Paddy McCartin can be claimed by the Swans at various drafts coming up up, BUT isn't he a DFA after being delisted by St Kilda at the end of 2019? If so we can just put him on our list in those windows that allow this.
