And McLean is clearly a footballer with a desperation to do what’s right and the ability to compete every time he gets near the ball.
Yes, the tracker data at half time, had McLean as equal leader with Mills for distance covered, with Andrews not far behind. Since McLean didn't get that much of the ball and Andrews had very little influence, you could probably conclude, that McLean spent a lot of time leading Andrews away from Reid, McDonald, etc. Which could be classed as a win for us.

Do we know if someone played a role one Neale? Hewett was playing down back I thought, did Neale just have a stinker?

        Good point.

I just saw the team song and there were so many people in the middle getting the traditional shower that I couldn't keep track of them.

Who was there? Campbell, Gulden, McDonald, first game. Hickey, first game for his new club. Then there was Warner, first win in his third game. Did I miss anyone?

WOW ! what a game ! It would be hard to break into this team barring injury.
Hayward, Stephens, mcInerney, Melican, Ling, Oriordan, Brand would need to lift their game to displace someone in the team.
Maybe Kennedy, McLean, are the only ones who did not do enough but again I am nitpicking as they were fine.
              Suddenly we have great depth.

It wasn't so much as Melican was dropped, but rather we decided to change our structure. I would like to know why we decided to make this change.

Did we bring in McLean specifically to play a negating role on Andrews? Or is it going to be a 'permanent' change in our structure in the games to come?
I think we relied on our rucks dropping back a bit. 61% of Hickey's 23 possessions were in the defensive half, including 6 in defensive 50. His work-rate was outstanding. Reid had 1 key mark deep in defensive 50.

A bold move and one that definitely deserved more attention from the experts. Especially as the marks inside 50 ended up at 23 - 5 in favour of the Swans!

According to something I read, it may have been RB.

About Maclean somebody posted on here earlier that at half-time the distance tracker had Mills doing the most distance followed by Maclean and then Andrews of Brisbane the point being that McLean was running Andrews around the ground leaving our forward line more open so I think from that he did his job well plus at least 2 goal assists but I can remember

Dermot B used to coach McLean so provided quite a lot of useful insight during the game about his job on Andrews.

Didn’t notice him much but big respect from me for playing on through injury.

Not sure how you managed that. He was the top possession getter around half time too. Almost always finds a way to get the ball to a teammate. Plus he had the most tackles including a great HTB preventing a centre clearance.

He was solid. Just didnt stand out to me. Assisted in a few goals and laid a few strong tackles but didnt have much of an impact. Not easy playing with a knee complaint and i would know.
