sorry you feel that way. I repeat that it was a minor inconvenience for me. if you dont like it then you would hate basketball. MC screaming into a loudspeaker non stop. Noise doesnt bother me. I dont go to the footy to carry conversation. i go to watch the game. we had a good one the other day but come on here and you would think we lost by ten goals and are trying to distract ourselves by focusing on the noise !

It is a topic obivously related to the experience at the ground, its clearly on topic for the match day thread, and it is something that clearly several members of this board are not enjoying. After all, if we have to put with your unending crusade to prematurely deride a few players on almost every thread, then you can put up with people discussing elements of what happens on match day that they do not like, even if for you personally its not a problem.

If they keep it up and enough patrons complain of ear pain, which is a Real problem for many - I might have a chat to lawyer mates For a bit of advice - if the complaints have been put forward by many and the standard “put up or shut up” response From the club & the complaints are ignored - mention a little thing called “ class action” -You only need a minimum of 20 people. The club will scramble for sure. After last years arrogance on the membership 2020 donation that was another reason I gave my 2 memberships away. Can the club afford to put off so many members by being stubborn about their filling every minute with noise? You’d hope they aren’t that stupid.. Whilst no one expects silence at the footy, this crap they are putting the crowd through is silly. Unless of course one of the new sponsors is a hearing aid company.

I got the same stock standard answer from the club. So I shot back a few questions asking whether the concept was tested, whether its an AFL directive or the Swans idea, and a few other points.

A couple of important things are coming out of this:

1. Please email the club if you have concerns and haven't done so already.
2. Next match, do what the Club recommends, find a Customer Service rep and request that the volume be lowered if it's too high where you are.

These are a couple of ways this will hopefully be addressed.

It only takes one embarrassing photograph of the cheer squad doing this to shame them into considering the safety of the fans.

Dear Swans,

I am a long-standing member (since 1999) and attend matches now with my 13 year old daughter. I love the experience, love catching up with those around me, and of course am loving the on-field performances.

However, the constant intrusion of amplified noise (some of it music, some of it hyperventilated talk) is really spoiling the day out for us. We are simply unable to talk with each other or those around us without shouting, both through the breaks in play, and, now, after each goal. Talking about what we are watching and experiencing, in shared excitement, and in terms of analysis (my daughter is a player, and we really get involved in analysing and talking about the play as it unfolds, and in those moments after goals), is a key part of being there for us.

However, last week we were literally stunned into silence by the barrage of noise filling every space. And worse, there was that terrible attempt to inspire the “Sydney” chant over the loudspeakers, which literally sounded like a moaning extra from a zombie movie.

We don’t need to be hyped up like this. We can do it ourselves. We don’t like the feeling of being manipulated and silenced. We don’t like being treated like idiots who need constant stimulation.

One of my favourite ever experiences at the football was the 2016 Grand Final. For twenty minutes before the game, once the entertainment had finished and the stage was being rolled off the field, there was no loudspeaker noise. It was fantastic: we talked, and around the whole stadium you could feel the buzz of nervous chatter and the intensity of the anticipation of the crowd. The result that day was disappointing, but the experience was fantastic. We felt that we were part of something, experiencing something together.

At the SCG on Saturday I felt bludgeoned and isolated by a constant, roaring cacophony. It was was not good, and make me think twice about going to the ground: my daughter and I talked about this on the way home, and she agreed: we can watch it on television and enjoy each others’ company and insights so much better.

Perfect!!! And you need those who are already hearing impaired to complain that the constant “din” plays havoc with their hearing aids - I don’t think the kids in the “ match day experience “ department have a bloody clue. They won’t realise until they are in their 30’s and will be asking people to repeat themselves due to their own failing hearing!
