Just saw Horse's conference - now impressed at all with it. Mumbled and talked in non specifics and I think he was happy to get out of there in just over 4 minutes.

I understand there is not much you can say after a belting like that, but to lose to 15th position team that was thrashed last week - the effort by the team and coaches is just not up to standard AFL.

Kennedy and Parks get heaps of inside ball but neither break lines like Warner

Not doubting his ability to break the lines - its a great attribute to have. But its not much help if when he does that by quick disposal, he ends up turning it over more often then not. As I said, even that can be effective when the broader team is up and about, but when it was like today and as a collective we were awful in terms of pressure, it just leads to easy turnovers that invariably can hurt. And as I said, he was very much not alone for awful turnovers today - almost all were guilty of it today. But its an area where we would hope he can improve over time and with experience.

Well the only positive is that we are not as bad as the Eagles. Swans down by 43, Eagles by 87!

I will get in trouble for this and accused of being a heretic and having an agenda .. but i dont see what rowbottom offers us. He had mates today but he is a full time mid now , no excuses for the kind of ineffective game he played today. Chad is streets ahead of him now. Melican - why ? How many more of these massacres are we going to be forced to sit through until we get it through our heads that for a defender HE CANT DEFEND! Notice our fwd pressure gone right down since Hayward came back ? Makes you wonder. I am not bullish on Wicks like others but compare the pair and what they bring. Jfc. Fail to see how we cant fit Dylan stephens into this team. Dont have anyone who can run and break lines right now and we are always tired by 3qt. Stephens endurance beast. Play him.

If you didn't have an agenda, you'd be equally criticising across the park, as most players gave us pretty much zero today and were well below par - your favourites included. Or are they going to continue to be judged by a completely different standards to those you hold in utter contempt?

I’m relieved I wasn’t able to watch the game today.

This is largely the same team and the same coaches that outplayed and out coached the Tigers 3 weeks ago.

I know it’s a cliche but I suspect our best wasn’t as good as we thought back then and today is not as bad as it feels.

Does anyone have any idea of how/why we’ve fallen so far?

No doubt injuries aren't helping us - and playing injured/not fit players isn't a good idea either (Heeney really didn't achieve much and didn't look comfortable, I still reckon Rowbottom is a fair way off 100%, and Papley was quiet too. But long and short of it, as is so often the case, coaches quickly work out ways to counter the 'next fad' in football, and we've got to find a way to adjust and deal with it. And we simply haven't. That combined with a game where the effort levels didn't match what the coaches would have hoped, and an opposition team that did a lot of things right and huzzah you get what we managed today.

They look tired. Remarkable start to season but hard to maintain when your best players are on their first or second season. Stuey Dew is good getting the suns up when they play us. Pity he can’t do it much any other time ... onya stuey

No contempt here. I call as i see it. Can accept the odd down game from players like Jmac and Gulden . They are young stars and have performed most weeks and dont have anything to prove in my eyes as their talent speaks for itself. For a player who i have been told is so wonderful i just dont see it with RB. Hes not quick, shocking kick and can be lazy at times. Has his good moments but i think im entitled to judge him harder if he is playing one of the most important positions in the team - inside mid ?? Not like hes just hiding away in a back pocket. He is playing a key role and if hes doing that he has to step up and prove hes worth it. Considering he walked into the side this week i expected more. Thats fair.

Surely Rowy was off HB for most the game and playing on 1 leg ?

IMO he is easily best 18 but not if he isnt fit.

You could see early when he was tackled when he kicked that he couldn't put weight on 1 leg

You've exactly proved my point. Some players are allowed the 'odd down game', others are expected to be superstars week in, week out...... you have multiple sets of standards, depending on whether you like a player or not. Its as simple as that - start judging all players by the same standards, and funnily enough you'll find that people might actually respect your opinion. But its been as clear as @@@@ing day you've got it in for him - for goodness sake, you ripped into him at length after the very first pre season run out and haven't stopped from there - as evidenced yet again by your ridiculous ranting about the reserves game last week, so it was no suprise you are at it again, when everyone should be in firm focus.

Yet you want to pretend somehow you haven't got a target on his back.

Dont need rowbottom to be a superstar. i will settle for him showing something as an inside mid. Have said it for long time now that his and Florents midfield craft sucks . Horse has woken up to Florent and moved him out to a wing .. hes pretty good there. Doesnt suit RB.

I thought we came out and tried to play the game style from our first 3 games. The Suns also were playing the same style. We just couldn't match their intensity and started to fall away. It may well have been our poor decision making kicking into the forward line and our poor skills under pressure that sapped out energy. The Suns were always that half step ahead up us. They were able to close us down, while they seemed to just manage to break from the pressure and hit targets when required.

Although it looked really bad today, we were not quite as bad as it looked. We just came up against a better side on the day. Too bad for us.

Geelong blew away the Eagles. So I expect that we will come out and crush the Cats next week.

Yes, I also thought we missed Rampe a lot. Not really for his defending, more for his drive. He's excellent for making decisions quickly, launching attacks and getting the overlap run going. We also didn't seem to do much at full pace today. I suspect that onfield, Rampe might have something of a manic sheepdog personality, which compels those around him to push harder.
