My go at it had us finishing 5th and playing Richmond in round 1 of the finals. This would most likely be at the MCG. Would much rather come 6th and play WCE at GMHBA or Marvel.

We arent going to get a home ground advantage through the finals, so either in top 4 for double chance, or outside top 4 is all we are competing for.

I wouldnt mind meeting the dogs first up, so dont get to meet them in any cut-throat finals before the grand final, if they make it.
So whatever position makes that happen is our best chance.

Ha ha. Good question.

I am not suggesting you should put any faith in my prediction (and did not initially volunteer my assessment), I was simply having a bit of fun with the calculations (and then posted the results when asked). Others have and will get different results. There are also so many possible outcomes that it is foolish to put too much weight on it. But, I like to dream, and it is a bit of fun.

Having said that, I did not manipulate the results to achieve a desired outcome and I have a modest amount of faith in my tipping ability (although I have not entered any competitions in years - I don’t enjoy the games as much when I do). There are a lot of close calls though. You should try it. See what you come up with.

I'm more than happy to go with your scenario of 3rd place. I don't enter tipping comps anymore for the same reason. I never once got a perfect round so have little faith in my predicted result of 6th. It was fun to go through the finals and knock each team out until the Swans were declared Premiers.

For Swans to make top 4:

1. We have to win every remaining game (possible)
2. Port need to lose at least one (potentially round 23 v Doggies)
3. Demons need to lose a couple (also possible)
4. We need to close the %age gap to Port.

If we make top-4 we will deserve it and others won’t.

Here's the ladder and run-in.

- Demons: Suns, Eagles, Crows, Cats
- Port: GWS, Crows, Carlton, Bulldogs
- Brisbane: Hawthorn, Fremantle, Collingwood, Eagles
- Swans: Essendon, St Kilda, North, Suns.

If we win all four, we need two of the following three scenarios to occur:
- Demons to lose two;
- Port to lose one;
- Brisbane to lose one.

Odds are against us, but it's possible.

Martin Pegan on the AFL site seems to think so. I know we go under the radar a bit (with the media), but it's nice to have an overwhelmingly positive article on our style of play. Credit to the coaches and players for making it happen.
