Nige was so one eyed for the puppies that I feel like sending a complaint to Ch7 - but I guess it would be a waste of time. He was so one eyed and barracking got the puppies to win Even BT pulled him up once about his comments. Terrible and embarrassing effort.

At the game what I noticed was our willingness to run hard to contests and positions. 10 minutes left in the game, ball goes forward to a marking contest on our forward flank. Papley is running to the contest but deviates when he sees a Dogs player alone on the opposite flank. He was able to get to the player as he marked to prevent him running free down the flank. Serious gut running.

Dawson starts on the wing but goes all over the ground like the old fashioned ruck rover/utility. He reads the play exceptionally well and I noticed when we go forward he usually stays out of the forward 50, but gets back into the defensive 50. Has become a seriously disciplined player.
Hewett back to the midfield has been enormous.
For now, a pleasing aspect is we are not kicking those dinky kicks into the midfield on the heads of players that allow intercepts. We are only kicking short if we can hit a player on the chest. So we have decreased the number of unnecessary turnovers.
Our strength at the contests have gone up a number of levels.
Callum Mills has a massive tank and gets across the field quickly. A special player.
I know a few knock Lloyd but he was very good.
Buddy quiet! I thought he was more than useful as he covered a heap of ground and was genuinely nuisance value. He kicks those goals and he is in our best.
No one has mentioned Fox. His closing speed and spoiling was very good.
As usual the AFL app only has player stats to 3/4 time. Up to then McCartin had 10 marks and his spoiling was spot on. Gave Bruce a towelling.

I thought he was best on ground today.

He was the third commentator - no idea what his name is besides Nige , and I don’t know where he came from (ex Dogs player ??). Have not heard him before.

Was a great win today, but we got absolutely smashed in the clearances 46-26 and in centre clearances 15-3.

Ludwig is right that our centre square mids - Parker, JPK, Mills and the now resurrected Hewett are too slow. Shouldn't be playing them all in there together. I don't know why we don't give Paps, JMac and Florent through there?

After that win, Damien Barrett has jumped on our bandwagon: BARRETT: Forget a fourth Tigers flag, a new contender rises (afl.com.au).

I still don't see us as a serious flag contender but it's a fabulous and enjoyable season. The worst games (Gold Coast, Hawthorn) have been awful - but I wouldn't swap them for our best wins (Bulldogs, Geelong, West Coast, Richmond, Brisbane). Although we will probably start favourite in all our remaining matches, I will be pleasantly surprised if we win them all. If we do, we will finish top 4 and I will start to think seriously about flag chances.
All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated, and well supported in logic and argument than others. -Douglas Adams, author (11 Mar 1952-2001)

What a super win, better than last week's as the Dogs did plenty of things right but we were able to counter them.

Just super games form McCartin (after a couple of not quite so brilliant games) and Dawson. Oh please please re-sign JD asap!

What has impressed me the most the last fortnight is we've taken two quite different game plans in, directly tailored to the opposition we are playing, and pulled them both off to a tee. That is a sign that we are getting things right in the coaches box, and the players are responding.

Still plenty of ups and downs to come, but mark my words this team is headed well and truly in the right direction.

Dawson and Mills outstanding for mine, but so many players did well today and contributed to another absolute team effort.
                Great call this.

This team has real heart. They're working for each other and buying into the game plan. Even though we got smashed at the centre we were still able to force turnovers and capitalise. We were good enough everywhere else on the ground to absorb that hit....against the best attack in the league.

How long will this strong vein of remarkable form take us is the big (and fascinating) query .

I’m sure Longmire has his own (keep a lid on it) goals..

To knock off the Dogs was pretty awesome with a 29- 13 free kick differential (is that right) .

Someone said Buddy gets angry when things not going his way . I don’t read him that way at all. He maintains a pretty composed persona (even when he misses a goal... doesn’t cuss). He’s played too much footy to get fussed by the disappointments.

Swans are a very exciting proposition right now , long may they prosper .

Dawson BOG. Mills and Parker mighty in the middle. Ramps gave the debutante nothing and McCartin back to his best. Blakey looked good again down back.

Hayward is a low possession high impact player. Couldn’t believe post match he only had 11 possessions.

And a smart game plan that spread the Dogs to ensure when a contest happened they didn’t have a batch of players to handball out of the contest. And let us use our speed and foot skills.
Yes, all of that. Dawson is an absolute star.

McCartin's return to form the big one for me.

                      Also:
                      - Gulden excels at every skill in the game - showed his leaping ability today.
                      - Fox was excellent.
                      - Amartey banked another strong game, with some excellent marking.
                      - Cunningham is such a valuable contributor.
                      - Buddy finally kicking one the highlight.

Not everyone was on today, but we played so well as a team; disciplined and solid 2 way play all game.

It's not really a worry, but JPK is probably no longer in our best 22. I suppose we will continue to play him, but we will have better options, especially when Warner and Campbell are fit to play.
Agree that Kennedy has diminished this year, but strongly disagree he's not best 22. He still wins more contested ball when it's in dispute on the ground than anyone else in the team.

I haven’t gone and done the analysis, it seems like the Swans prefer to play on Victorian grounds be it Marval, Skilled or the MCG.

Could being based out of Victoria be better for the team than playing at the SCG?

Nice work RD. I remember reading that post and thinking "Mmm....Blakey our next Malceski? That could work." It's worked a treat, freeing Dawson to the wing and giving the team an extra attacking flair. The links in the chain are strengthening.

It was great to see the old jumpers, sort of like watching South Melbourne v Footscray back in the day. The South Melbourne chant was the icing on the cake.

It's truly brilliant how the Swans honour their origins and it remains a big reason there's so much support when the team plays in Melbourne. It's a bonus no other team has.

I must add that our players seem to revel in hub conditions. We might in Victoria for a few more weeks but it doesn't worry me in the slightest. So long as the mental health of our lads is being looked after which I'm sure it is, hub life for our boys is ok with me. Team bonding is high and it appears to convert to cohesion on the field. Onwards and upwards!
