I have by and large been happy to respect the fact govts gotta do certain things during this and there's no playbook, so some things will be done right and some things won't be perfect.

But her own test a few days ago was cases or sewage detection north of Newcastle (with everyone south of that locked down) were needed before shutting the border.

None of that has changed. In fact, the only case up these parts for six months was some dreg from Brisbane bringing it to Byron at Easter.

    Otherwise, nada.

I should say despite my gripe, my bigger worry is the implications for reuniting players and staff with their families.

Apparently, the families of rugby league players who have been flown in are doing a hard quarantine in the rooms. No leaving their room under any circumstances.

You'd think the same rule will apply to AFL families. If you're a mother with two or three young kids, is 14 days of being locked in a room doable and worth it? Particularly after a long stretch living under lockdown in Sydney.

I'm not sure where you live on the NSW north coast but there has been a confirmed case of a COVID positive man who traveled from Sydney to Coffs Harbour and went to a number of places around town.
I too was planning to go up for the game but that got canned on Monday because of the above.

Yes, I'm aware of that one - as was a site at Chinderah.

But her test was actual cases or sewage detection. Which was perfectly sensible, with the latter being an early warning sign. It's the shift from that the bugs me a bit.

Full respect for what rowbottom did for the team and whatever his pay was for that match should be doubled but 0 possessions in a half is an automatic omission . He'd be relieved

I think the ‘she’ responsible for the decision to close the Qld border is the CHO. And no, Jeannette Young is not going to anything in Tokyo.

A can’t get started on Dr Young. I would get too frustrated and not be living my best life.

There is a brilliant article written by Wayne Carey on John Longmire in the Age. I didn’t want to run the risk off stuffing up the thread by attaching the article.

On TheBloods take on Rowbottom, I thought his 2nd half was strong. That pass to Franklin in the 3rd Term displayed good vision and depth touch.

Riiiight. Did you also take in to account his 45% playing time for the match in that assessment? And who exactly would you be bringing in for him?

Yes i did , his playing time and the fact he didnt touch it in the first half made it obvious he shouldnt have been out there ! Nothing but respect for the way he fronted up regardless with no complaints but there was a reason he was left out of the side and a last minute change because of covid is the only reason he was out there . So i see no reason our selection this week should be chained to something that was forced on us last week !

Get Reid in , play him fwd with Amartey and push Heeney up in to mid field

Bell played as a HB in the reserves when he first came to the club.

But RB came in for Mills/Cunningham.. to bring Reid back in is to change the balance of the team.
Surprised you are keeping Heeney in after 2 touches in the first half with 75% playing time. Thought it would be ground for expulsion.

And can we lose Hewett's vital tagging role when there are a few Freo players we can't let get a run on as we did late last time. We have a week to work on structure and it'll be fascinating to see what that will be.
Ok here is how the mids should sit.

Kennedy head to head with Mundy
                          Hewett takes Fyfe
                          Parker probably Serong
                          Rowbottom takes Brayshaw
move Heens, Paps, Ollie and Dawson through the mids at different times. But always Hewee on Fyfe.

You need a balance of both defensive and attacking players , you cant have a team of 22 all wanting only to attack , theres teams already like that and they're called St kilda and Essendon !
Well Harry definitely won't be playing this week. HE can be quite attacking as well as defensive and would probably get a Collier if he were playing.

Replaced the fitness staff and medical staff I think. The people they brought in have a great record of keeping teams on the park.

Heeney did nothing in the first half either but was amazing in the 2nd half playing mids , he would easily be an upgrade on RB and Reid could play fwd and do Heeney's role
