I prefer having Reid in the team than Amartey. Not knocking Amartey who I think will continue to develop into a very good player but I think Reid is overall a better player. One of the biggest differentiators between Reid and Amartey is Reid’s ability to drop back into defence. For this reason, I can also see McDonald replacing Bell so that we have two talls available at all times up forward.

Buddy is an injury risk too. Do you suggest not to play him either?

I don’t get the negativity on Reid? He is a premiership player, a bloody good player at that and I cannot recall any game where he has broken down during it?

At least Lobb is out. He was the difference in the last game. The fact that Meek is in the squad probably indicates Darcy is doubtful. He could hardly walk at the end of their game against Geelong.

The prospect of having a fit and firing Reid in the team is clearly too good to pass up. He needs time in the team for that to happen.

Getting game time into Amartey has been fantastic for his development (as well as our depth), and he looks like he could become a regular in the team at some point - but Reid is the better option for a finals run. Let’s hope he stays fit.

From what I’ve been reading on Red and White, Logan has found some good recent form. I think with an extra tall forward you can manage Reid’s game and bench time more effectively.

This move will also allow Heeney to push more into the midfield, possibly to a wing.

People may be correct about Florent playing as a small defender instead of his regular wing position.
If Logan can uphold his end of the bargain, I like this combo. It means when Reid goes into the ruck or for a rest, we’re not solely dependent on Bud as a tall. Plus the bit about Heeney playing at least 50-50 on a wing.

One under estimated element of it is his dual-sided kicking skills as it makes it easier to exit pressure and open up leading options for the players ahead. He can wheel into space, wherever it is, under pressure.

I am wanting to head down to the game on Sunday and as I don’t have a Membership it appears that the only available tickets are tightly grouped together behind the goalposts at one end of the ground only. It also appears all available tickets are only $25 each as well. When I went down to the Suns game there was much more availability and we were able to get seats closer to the centre square. They cost a bit more but were worth paying for. Is it configured this way because it’s a Swans home game and certain areas are only available for those with memberships or is it COVID related reasons ? I understand the 75% crowd restrictions now apply in Qld.
              Anyone have any ideas ?

If we want to be a serious threat at going deep in September this year, Reid is in the team as our forward / back up ruck. He was in brilliant form to start the season - competing very well in the air and dominating boundary throw ins in the forward half.
Amartey has been ok - he's shown he's a great prospect. But Reid is easily the better option if fit.
He's been back in reserves for a few weeks, and the next month of footy will be huge in building him up for finals.

Probably they're not expecting much of a crowd, so they're only opening up a small part of the ground. I suspect that if they sell a reasonable amount of tickets, another section or two will be opened.

Yes I suspect that is the case just curious as to why corral everyone into one small area at one end of the field only ?
My preference is to be seated centrally so you can see the action across the field but I know a lot of people like to be behind the goals.
That would be great if you could change ends after each quarter like you can at local footy ????

I found it interesting that Maclean was included. Last time he played Freo, Brendan Cox gave him an absolute bath and he has been banished to the reserves ever since. I wonder if he will play and therefore it will be a learning curve for him?

Whilst he did get a bath from Cox, he also nullified the impact of Cox on the game that day. Freo have a very good (and underrated) defensive set up that intercepts very well.
I think McLean would have come back in earlier if Amartey hadn't impressed so much. I'd flag his bigger area for concern/development is his forward half and back up rucking. He needs to be able to break even and start winning more contests as a ruck to demand his spot back.

My initial thought was "I'm not convinced that is the right move" but I think maybe we have forgotten how good Sam was earlier this season, I know I have.

My take would be that it is for crowd management reasons. Only have to open a certain number of bars/eateries and the need for less security in a smaller area?

Cox won't be playing this time round, so no chance for a second chance against him.

Correct. Sam does tend to take a couple of games to get his touch back, so they're giving him time but when he's going, he's terrific. The other thing we often miss with him is the amount of work he does defensively off the ball.

Reid over Amartey is no brainer

If we were 15th on the ladder like previous years you would give the younger one a go as he's been ok But Reid is in our best 22 easy gotta get him in only a month away from finals
