So long as he didn’t tire himself out too much last week, I expect to see Buddy playing up the ground a lot more than normal, at least to start the game. Get Taylor out of his comfort zone, or get the Giants to find an alternative match up for Buddy. Taylor has the short-distance speed to go with Buddy but does he have the endurance and nous to play him across half forward? And how would removing Taylor’s intercepting skill affect the Giants’ defensive structure?
Swans vs GWS - elimination final

that big. All the games there this year have been just shy of 10,000, so I suppose they are doing the 50% capacity thing. We've played
there once before, and the Giants twice, and neither team have played there since 2017.Comment

Having been at the last Swans game at the venue against the Hawks that had a large Swans fans attendance, I predict that there will be 70% Swans 20% Neutral, 10% GWSComment

They asked Dane what he would be telling the youngsters (who have never played finals) what to expect .
Instead of saying that the intensity goes up several notches and it’s so much harder , he simply said he’d be telling them ‘it’s just a privilege to to play finals ‘
That was pretty savvy .Comment

Personally dont think their should be any concern about Mummy.
Hickey is a bigger concern for them and Mummys ability to go with him.
No one taking the field Saturday at AFL level has fear of an opponent, this isnt under 10s.
Our big concern for GWS is their midfield depth for all its high end talent.
Rate our game style but if we cant match it in the middle we have seen how little game plan matters.Comment

I agree about Mummy not being our biggest concern but not that we absolutely match it with them in the middle. We can neuter a disadvantage in contested possessions with better pressure. They cancel each other out to some degree. So our game plan based on pressure can prevail over superiority out of the centre if we do our bit better than they do their bit. AND PROVIDED we bring the PRESSURE!All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated, and well supported in logic and argument than others. -Douglas Adams, author (11 Mar 1952-2001)Comment

+1 I posted some stats on another thread. We can lose clearances and CP and still win provided we out pressure and out spread our opponent.
The Saints defeat was one where we won on the inside but were beaten comprehensively outside the contest. Generally it’s the other way round.
Still think it would be good to break even inside if we can.Comment

I am strongly of the belief that we cannot play anyone in the finals who is not good to go. It will hurt us. The Club would need to be very confident that Mills and Kennedy can play out the game and perform at a high level to let them play the game. Should either play and break down during the game it would be an absolute disaster. We have other fully fit players in the wings. They may not be as good as those two but they are fit and raring to go. Play them if in doubt.Comment

I think Don Pyke is huge for this game. No doubt he is setting the strategy and assigning roles. Provided our players execute at the intensity required then I think we will be ok. I see his confirmation that he likes the swans and is staying as a very positive thing. Having said all that I reckon if a swans player gets a chance to crunch Mumfords lower back (legally) then they should take it.Comment

Can’t see us taking the risk on both .
Going to be a real balancing act

Even though the games won’t be played in front of fans from NSW or Victoria, there will still be fans. I suppose what I’m saying is that I’d be pretty happy either way provided we kept on winning.Comment
