It's so easy to get caught up in the Toby hysteria. Slowmo camera shows he didn't even touch Stevic. Stevic pulled his shoulder back to get out of the way of Toby.

A friend asked me last night, if Toby Green crossed to the Swans, would my views change. I was reminded of Barry Hall and Tony Lockett. Maybe was my answer.
Then I saw this …

Again I ask 'so it's up to the umpire to move out of an approaching players way?' No it isn't....he still should be suspended. If he isn't, players will have a precedent set that they can beeline for an umpire in a threatening manner and walk right through them....if the umpire doesn't move first. Umpires, whether it's Stevic or not, are SACROSANCT....you cannot touch them or threaten them in any way.
Its pretentious and I bet half the footy commentators don't even know what it means.
The best thing now is to leave it to the tribunal. ... Trouble is the MRO and tribunal is so compromised and amateur, justice is unlikely to be served.
It will all come down to stevic I think.Comment

Guys, emotions are still too high to allow viewing of the replay, but from memory here’s my take on the missed shots:
Wilbur: difficult but with his experience should have goaled.
Wicks: gettable, should have steadied. History of missing these.
Tom: not easy but gettable.
Bell: 1st shot: gettable, not too difficult and a very poor kick.
2nd shot: unbelievable miss and unforgivable
Buddy: gettable for him- very poor with a couple of minutes to go- should have kicked it with his experience.
Got that off my chest, so I thought I would assess our team and others who played over a pretty good season:
Harry: good
Melican: average at best
Ramps: good
JMac: good
McCartin: good
Lloyd: average plus
Dawson: very good- excellent
Joey: good
Ollie: average
Paps: very good
Buddy: very good- excellent
Wilbur: good
Errol: very good
Sammy: good
Mc Lean: average plus, limited games.
Fox: average
Hickey: excellent
Mills: excellent
Parks: excellent
George: very good
Heeney: very good- excellent
Blakey: very good once moved to HB
Campbell: limited games, average
Amartey: as above
Logan: as above
Stephens: as above, below average.
COR: as above, average
Bell: poor
Wicks: below average
Chad: missed a lot of games, but good.Comment

My thoughts: God knows why they decided to take a risky approach to selection for an elim final. COR instead of Fox. Bell instead of... well, anyone really, when he's been given umpteen chances this season and played only 1 good game. Did they really think that this was the game where he was going to discover his genius? And finally - McLean over Reid? Sure, Reid didn't shine in the last game he played, but neither did McLean really, and Reid is experienced and a proven finals performer. So why did they take the risky approach?? This game was lost at the selection table.
Greene should get suspended. Whoever put that ultra slow-mo video on Youtube clearly has an agenda. Because if you watch it at full speed you can clearly see that the umpire bounces back too fast to have initiated the movement himself. As that other angle clearly shows. They can't let him get away with that or it's setting a precedent.
Finally: gutted we lost this one. If we'd got through this game I truly think we could have had a crack at the premiership. But next year is looking promising!Comment

God I hate that word "sacrosanct". How have we allowed that to become part of the footy vocabulary?
Its pretentious and I bet half the footy commentators don't even know what it means.

Sacroiliac. Originally I was wondering if that was similar to necrophiliac? But no, I then remembered my anatomy lessons.Comment

I'm pretty indifferent to any word that starts with "sacro".Comment
