Let's hope this win is a good omen for the Seniors.

Roberts will make it I think. Sheldrick - if he had have kicked straight - would have had a great game.

Cunningham easily BOG. Gould reliable and decisive.
Yes, it was scrappy going forward in the second half. Although the increasing wind at Windy Hill, may have had something to do with it? Some kicks seemed to go three different ways in the air. Actually, I'm now wondering if the place was called Windy Hill before they put the football ground there? Seems an odd decision if that was the case?

Also thought Roberts and Sheldrick threw their weight around effectively in the second half, along with Wicks, Bell and Ronke when he was on the field in the first. Actually thought that BOG was close between Cunningham and Bell, with perhaps Gould next best.

Disappointing in the end. Played 'champagne' football in the first half, then kicked 7 points or more in a row in the third, and should have, could have, been ahead by 100 points or more. In last quarter seemingly no attempt to bury the opposition. We don't seem to have the ability, mindset, I don't know what it is, to really put the screws on when we are well ahead. We had Ladhams, Sinclair, McAndrew, Amartey, McLean, along with Harry, Taylor, Wicks, Bell, Ronke, Melican and Gould up against an undermanned Essendon team. It was rather fun watching the first half though!

I'd agree with that. Cunningham looked like he was in third gear - just playing a no-frills, no mistakes kind of game. Bell was everywhere and earned/received the ball at will. His disposal was solid rather than silky, as we expect from Bell.

Melican was excellent in the first half in particular, but didn't see as much of the ball in the second. Gould was good in the first and was one of the few Swans to get even better as the game went on.

It was a pretty disappointing second half after an excellent first half. Just sloppy and scrappy. The effort and ball winning was still there but disposals stopped finding teammates (or even being clearly aimed towards a team mate).

Quiet game from Amartey and it looked like he wasn't 100% fit.

I was very impressed by Webster's efforts in his first game at this level. Never looked rushed or unsure of what or where he should be going.

Coaches votes for the game against Essendon.

            8 Harry Cunningham (Syd)
            6 Lewis Taylor (Syd)
            5 James Bell (Syd)
            5 Hayden McLean (Syd)
            2 Cody Brand (Ess)
            2 Peter Ladhams (Syd)
            1 Nick Bryan (Ess)
            1 Sam Wicks (Syd)

            Seems an odd distribution.
            Cunningham: 4 - 4.
            Taylor: 3 - 3.
            Bell: 5 - 0.
            McLean: 0 - 5.

That is odd isn't it...I guess whoever got the 5 from Laidler out of Bell or McLean is more likely to be in line for a call up to firsts.

I hope it was Laidler who gave Bell the 5. Like, I only really watch the Swans players and I would've given Bell top votes.

                  You've confused me a little
You wouldn't have given Bell the 5 but hope Laidler did..does that mean you want him chosen in firsts

I'm very surprised by those, votes. I thought Gould impassable and distributed very well. He goes under the radar a bit because he is, not flashy. He is dependable. That is what I'd prefer my backs to be. See Teddy, Bolts & Reg.

After multiple weeks as an emergency for the VFL team, one J.Laidler put in the hard yards during the VFL bye week and must be in line for a call up.

How did Jeremy go? Can we rely on him if needed?

6 emergencies also named Isaac Hughes, Angus Anderson, Max Geddes, Will Collis, Harry Morrison, Darcy Cordell

For you would think at least 2 if not 3 of the senior emergencies will be going to Perth
