He's fine. While it'd be nice if he could get a few 25+ possession games, instead of 15-20 possessions, he generally looks a class above VFL level. Too much pace for most of the players in the league, uses it well and can apply plenty of pressure.

Campbell - in my humble opinion is tracking really well, he could easily be playing AFL this weekend.
Outstanding kick, good vision, appears quick and covers a lot of ground. Good above his head for his height, and shows courage in contested situations. One knock may be his tackles appears to be relatively easy to break, whether that is size or technique I couldnt say, but probably needs to bulk up a bit. I for one am very happy how he is tracking.

It’s an unfair comparison, in so far as Gulden had elite running ability and out-of-this-world footy IQ, so had better chance of succeeding right away. Campbell will be fine. Some blokes take a little to build an AFL level tank. Once Campbell finds his, he will explode as a player as he has every skill the modern game needs. Cracking it properly in year three is actually the trajectory 95 percent of AFL players take.

Not sure what Campbell’s future AFL role will be, but he feels like an impact player rather than an accumulator.

Not sure what evidence there is to support that. He played last week and his work-rate was as high as it always is (and his skill level as mixed as it always is).

Apologies I thought he’d been unsighted for a couple of weeks. It must have been the week before he was mysteriously absent.

His cards do appear to be marked though, like a fatter Michael Talia.

                    Agreed on both.

I dont think so despite a very encouraging game. Next season for him unless we get a run of injuries.

Only got to see the last 15 minutes or so but BOC looked impressive. Was he playing a different role due to Melican being out ?

It seems that Melican being out allowed BOC to take on a leadership role in the backline.Showed impressive speed and kicking and good game reading abilty.I am looking forward to his further development.

Also liked the look of Christian Webster

I don't think there's a player on our list that I've been rooting for more to "make it" - even if that is just playing one AFL game. I've pretty much given up hope by now, but maybe that game keeps a little flicker alive, if he wants to give it one more year (and the Swans are willing to give him that chance).
Too much athletic ability to not throw another year at him IMO, looks a perfect modern footballer from the glimpses I've seen. Had a Covid interrupted first two years which was difficult for a player new to our game.

Slightly offtopic, but Werribee spanked the Northern Bullants yesterday, 29.17 (191) to 0.10 (10).

I find this scoreline a bit embarrassing because the VFL Swans are the only side to lose to the Bullants this year (a 19-point loss in round four).

I went out to Blacktown to watch that game. The team did play particularly poorly that day but it was a vastly different side to the one we have now. We started with just 12 AFL listed players and the only ruck height player that day was Amartey. His day ended just before quarter time after his head was rammed into the ground in a tackle, and we also lost Matt Roberts around the same time to a similar incident. So for the rest of the game there essentially no height in the team. Barry O'Connor was sent forward (and produced my favourite cameo of the season, with a long kick for goal after an impressive contested mark, and a beautifully weighted pass into forward 50 to set up another goal).
