It's a great week for the VFL side to have a bye. Otherwise Jeremy Laidler might find himself elevated off the emergency list. And playing first ruck.

I had the same thought about the VFL bye. Incidentally, Jeremy Laidler was running around on the field in intraclub match practice at training, making up the numbers while the VFL listed guys were absent.

I find the omissions of content on the injury exasperating. Now Fox and COR are finally listed but with TBC on the return date. After 3 weeks one would think there would be something more definitive on a hamstring and an eye injury. We also know that both Amartey and Roberts were taken out of the VFL game due to concussion, so they should be on the injury list, except they're not. There has also been a lack of news on why Shledrick and McAndrew didn't play on Sunday.

I think Bell looks a bit better this year, but agree with the comments about his indecision. It would be a big improvement to his game if he could see the play developing around him more quickly. His instincts near goal are pretty good. Maybe if he could play more instinctual footy he could make a big leap in his progress. I suppose it would be more beneficial to him to stay at AFL level, but I imagine he will be replaced wither this week or next, when Papley becomes available.

I noticed had trouble sticking their tackles on a mature Geelong side. Maybe it was the rain. But it made me think that JPK might be a good inclusion against a team like Hawthorn, but I also like the mix of our current midfield, so am undecided about selection if it comes down to Bell or Kennedy.

Also, I posted there that I learned today that the club does deliberately omit updates about injury news for certain players for strategic reasons. It's not just laziness or incompetence.

I agree when you look at the side which played v the Weagles it’s hard to see how JPK gets back in.

I can’t see any mids coming out, unless one of them is injured.

They could reshuffle slightly and replace Bell/Ronke with Wicks/JPK and then get other mids Heeney, RB, Errol. Parker to spend a bit more time FWD.

I’m actually a bit unclear about Parker’s role in 2022 and whether he’ll end up being a FWD/MID rather than vice versa.

On one level, it makes more sense for Parker to become a fwd because he can do that.

JPK can’t really do much except contested ball but then he is the best AFL player in history at doing that.

We will want Parker in the middle in the big games. He’s playing a bit more forward now, and he’s very good at it, whilst he’s got a groin niggle.

Is there a statistical analysis that shows that Kennedy Is the best AFL player in history at winning contested ball? I would have thought that Fyfe, Dangerfield, Bont and Sam Mitchell were also great with contested ball.

I also remember seeing that he’d had the most in the 2010-20 decade, which when you consider some of the talent around, is supreme. He’s a beast.

In an article on Fox Sports titled :‘Dudding the fan’: AFL greats call for greater transparency over team selection after shock moves... David King says “Opposition clubs have a great education of where they’re at because they’re watching training." and "“The only people that get short-changed on all this is the fan."

I think the clubs don't have to keep these as secrets. Opponents who want to know will find ways to know and only the fans who have no resources to avoid being fooled.

Agreed. Once he gets over that injury issue then expect him to be in the middle and at clearances more than now.

Wicks is far from an auto inclusion if healthy for me

"Run with" maybe overstating it, Waswan! With those two, its more like a gentle trot, but I agree with others that Joey has been a beast for us for over one decade. He will retire a great of this club.
