Essentially the last 2 pages had nothing to do with the topic of the thread

Might I just say that the crowd in my bay (a section away from the cheer squad) were particularly feral on Saturday. They’re usually pretty biased but there were a few around us who were antagonising the Swans cheer squad (not that they seemed to care), fairly ordinary language (which I’m pleased others in the area called them out on as there were plenty of kids present), and the port supporters in that area were most ungracious in victory. Adelaide Oval … great stadium … if not for the local supporters

Hey Goswannies is what you posted regarding the Port supporters the norm? A few times I have been to the Sydney home games I haven’t noticed that type of behaviour.

Not from my experience previously. I’ve previously found them to be a bit more generous. But there was a bit of unpleasant language from behind us and a younger obnoxious guy in front who’s friends got in on the act a bit when he fired up. Admittedly, they had a few beers, so maybe that deduced their inhibitions. The only other time I had a bad experience with Port supporters was at Footy Park when my car (with Vic plates) got badged. Most times I find Port supporters ok.
Perhaps I was a bit more sensitive as it wasn’t a fun game for most of it.

Nope. This is not a "public" forum. It is a website run by an individual (plus mods who do a great, albeit thankless job) who can decide who can or can't "play" on here.
If the actions of a member (or two) turn away a whole lot more (potential) RWOer's, the owner can choose to do whatever they want to look after the RWO community.

Over the almost 20yrs I have been and RWO member (and mod at times) I have seen RWO lose some fantastic and insightful contributors because of the relentless and selfish posts of just a few.
If the owner decides to boot members every now and then for the betterment of RWO, I for one, am all for it.

BTW: this post is off topic so please feel free to move as necessary

Russuito is a knob. If the occational 1 match suspension is the price for a very good 2nd ruckman, I'm willing to pay. He's already won more games than he's cost us.

I agree with your opinion it’s alarming that often freedom of speech is espoused as a valid reason to let people say what they want no matter how it may offend others.
Surely we have now realised that is not the case and that some things need not be aired in public ? It’s not being woke it’s being decent.
The last high profile poster that I can recall being suspended ( or whatever the correct terminology is ) was Matt80 and he never ever resorted to the personal and offensive attacks that this “ supporter “ has consistently chosen to undertake.
He knew that when he chose to take this path that it would not be popular but he continued to push the envelope and his comments after Saturday’s game were disgusting.
I won’t miss him if he has been suspended and the blame for this action taking place can’t be deflected as political correctness which is what some posters apparently feel but more that conducting an ongoing offensive campaign based on innuendo and personal opinions isn’t always a successful strategy.

Yes, Ladhams didn't cost us the Port game. That was unfortunately a team effort. Anyways, onwards and upwards, let's get everything
back on track against St Kilda at the spiritual home of footy on Saturday night.

Before I rebut, can I just make a point about this discussion about comments in this forum.
I enjoy the fact that we don't always agree and can discuss the pros and cons of our team from our own perspectives. In many cases it can give us time to pause to consider the role of a particular player (in my case the most outstanding example was Nick Malcevski, whom I considered a receiver with few redeeming qualities, thankfully I was proved wrong in the 2012 GF).
Disagreements are healthy and opinions are just that with empirical evidence very light on the ground.
That said: It is my opinion that Peter Ladhams has yet to win us any games this year. He has made modest contributions and played his role in some matches but that is his job.
He lost it on Saturday, he could not compete with a novice from the WAFL, was unable to outpoint a part-timer over whom he had physical superiority, he was baited by a young fringe player and he displayed a thuggish demeanor on a Brownlow Medalist. These last points directly responsible for two goals.
He alone did not cost us the win, a lot of non-performers helped but his contribution to the low morale was evident.

The only risk is that Port know Ladhams weaknesses (play, not temper) and have now shown the rest of the competition how to negate him.

He loves to bash with verbal diarrhoea anyone that dare leave the wonders of the Adelaide Footy Fishpond, so it is no surprise he took the chance to have a go at Ladhams.

I have no issue with a bit of aggro - just needs to be focused when it is most needed. We need some mongrel in the team - just not manifesting itself quite like it did on the weekend. He will learn form it hopefully, but still happy to have him given a kick up the butt about it and a couple of weeks in the Magoos to go with it.

I think Ladhams is far from peaking as a player. He’s 40 games in. He probably won’t be at his best until at least 2024. He is doing fine overall but obviously was pretty ordinary on the weekend.

That's an understatement! He was shocking.

I dont think hes much but felt bad for him . You dont like to see anyone struggling and getting in their own head . its a competition but footy is supposed to still be fun.

In an interview on SEN, Butters told what they know about how to get under Peter's skin.

"Zak Butters said his teammates knew how to unsettle the new Swan.“It was more death by 1000 cuts for 'Pisty' (Ladhams),”

I think we saw why I advocated earlier on this forum more than once that if were to get a ruckman from Port that I would prefer to get Sam Hayes.
