He had 10 disposals (about his average) 4 clangers and 1 free against. Did they include his unforgivable play on? Those stats suggest he should have stayed on the plane.

He has played 100+ games and his average stats are 10! He simply doesn't get near the footy often enough or is a position to take a hand pass.

In 2021 Wicks played 22 games. His average disposals were 11. Average tackles, 1 in the forward line, 4 overall per game. His average clearances...wait for it....0.

You can't win a flag carrying these types of players.

How many times do i have to say it , you will get nowhere with complete duds like Wicks Rowbottom and O'riordan in the side . They wont make it and sooner we accept that and replace them with some players for the future the better off we will be .

Florent Hayward these sorts are also passengers but they are good when the team is good . Get rid of the dead weight and strengthen the other 20 or so and we can afford to carry the Florent and Hayward players .

      Ladhams shocking

I’m still on the Hayward train. He’s playing a lot harder this year. Seems to seek rather than shirk the physical stuff. And really should have kicked 3.

If it comes together sooner, all the better, but I wouldn't drag things out thinking the vets like Buddy and JPK are going to help us win a premiership.
It’s a fine line isn’t it. If you looked at us in 2020, when the green shoots started to appear, you thought on a natural trajectory this is the year we maybe start pushing for finals and it’s 2024 onwards when we start seriously contending - so in some ways where we are at with our inconsistency isn’t a surprise.

Anyway, the list build side of that is for the trading and list management thread perhaps, but you can still see a few holes and immaturity in the side we’re developing. I think we will get there, but it’s not a complete surprise we’re not yet.

That’s a lot of turning points. I think the turning point was halfway though Q1 when Port switched on and we had already decided we’d win without putting in.

Rowbottom is NOT a dud! Just my opinion.

Was today. But don’t want to open up the wound.

I don’t share the concern around Franklin’s place in the team. He is a match winner - and they are hard to come by. Keep him as long as we can, I say. Provided he keeps performing, of course. Buddy will get another contract because we are a better team when he is up and about.

I don’t have any confidence that we would improve over a longer term in his absence. Being less predictable is easy enough for a week or two but doing it over a sustained period is much more difficult once the opposition know how you play.

Playing Franklin isn’t the problem, our decision making and kicking inside 50 is the issue. There were times today where we ignored Franklin when he was the better target. Bombing the ball in was a much bigger problem.

Beyond that, we so rarely kick to advantage when kicking to a contest (Logan’s beautiful last quarter drive to Heeney being a notable exception today). This needs to be addressed, no matter who is playing inside our forward 50.

Totally agree. The same players refuse to move the ball on. Healy commented that Wicks could have played on in the 3rd quarter but just stood there. Has no game awareness.

Round 14 should be renamed upset round. Weagles level with the Cats

Parker 10, Rowbottom 5, Ladhams 4, Mills 3 clearances today. Which clearance bull are you talking about?
