Inaccurate kicking didnt help but the real problem, again, was when the pressure was at its hottest our midfield did its regular disappearing act.

Completely agree. So many chances blown. Hit the post three times, didn’t make a score from 40m at least twice. Probably don’t deserve to make finals after such a woeful kicking display.

Pity we couldnt afford Clarkson, i think we would be a serious Premiership contender within 2 years!

We have not covered for the loss of Hewitt and that kid who went to Adelaide.....that is obvious. We miss Hewitt's grunt big time.

There’s not a great deal of difference between teams 3-16, really.

All the teams who got badly beaten last week have come back this week and won well.

If you come into a game thinking you’ve just got to show up, then you’re in trouble. We fell away so badly in Q2 (like so many times this year) and we were awful thereafter.

Still has the Rona by the looks.

Jordan Dawson...doubt he would have changed the outcome.

Mentally we seem unable to produce the goods week in, week out. We seemed to be galvanising into a strong willed team but that has disappeared completely this season and just comes out every now and again. We are not finals worthy to be honest and there is a lot of work to be done in the off season, including at the trade table.

True...but they are young. And most young teams, in all sports, have to lose a bit before they can win. Adversity creates the killer instinct...hell, look at Michael Jordan with the Bulls...got smacked around for 3 or 4 years before the broke through...

At the end of this season, I really think they are 13-9. Which isn't terrible in the least... four games over .500 But I think the miss finals...

They are not young we were on average a year older than Essendon and 107 games average.

                      Mediocre comes to mind.

Feels like the 2007-2010 period of Roos final years.

Heeney is among our top 4 and is certainly elite.

Some of the overreaction is always funny. Very, very frustrating result but not sure it's like the gallows some would suggest.

A very annoying result but just a reflection on an inconsistent team. And at the be all and end all, we kick reasonably straight and we win by 5+ goals. Probably a lot more I suspect.

Very damaging result to say the least for our season, but just one of those days where we paid the ultimate price for not kicking it between the two big sticks, where they couldn't miss when it mattered.

We were just awful in every aspect of he game. We played like it was a double 6 day break game. We had no pressure on the ball. We just left their players open to take mark after mark. Essendon give you so much, yet we blew so many chances. Just too casual, like we really didn't care.

I would have felt worse if we won the game, because we would have been so undeserving. We have talent, but I'm not sure if we have character. Time will tell.

Essendon had the footy 84 times more.
Our field kicking was inept. Gulden was a big culprit; little short kicks to nothing. Stephens gets a mark on the wing, is clear, and stops then does a woeful kick to the boundary when we needed to get it into the forward line. How many times did Blakey chip his kicks to turnovers. That kick out effort was more than a brain fade. He had a howler.
                              T. McCartin again tries the two fister over the boundary instead of taking the mark.
Is Rowbottom playing rugby? Gets the ball and tries to barge through. Doesn't have the presence to handball off.

                              Thank goodness we had Warner.

So many passengers. Not good enough.
