We won the centre clearances 11/10. That made a huge difference and when they got it we were able to stifle their disposal. They had only a few clean clearances. Parker was enormous.Comment

I did enjoy the extended period when we had it locked in our forward line and smashing any Melbourne player who went near the ball.

I got a warm inner glow when he put it through from 50.Comment

Welcome back mate. Unbelievable win against a team who are stacked and actually played good footy themselves. Rowbottom was enormous again along with Parker and Mills. Amazing to do that with little impact from three of our normally better, dynamic players in Heeney, Buddy, and Chad.Wow. I’ve been absent from here for a while but I had to come back to say, how bloody good was that !!! Ferocious pressure. That play late where the dees had a goal on a platter and we somehow managed to soother and harass and save that goal. Amazing. I’m not sure if the Rowbottom debate is still raging on here and I certainly don’t wish to restart it, but geez, if you don’t rate him , you don’t know footy. He’s been huge for us this year and was massive again tonight. Up the mighty Bloods !!!!

Almost the biggest story out of the game in my opinion.
Buddy was quiet, Heeney far from his best, Warner (relatively - still had some good moments) quiet, Blakey didn't get much of it, McInerney struggled at times. But we found a way - someone always stands up in this team.
This team is truly worthy of the the Bloods moniker, and they might just be good enough yet to go all the way.
The SCG is going to be rocking light something else in 2 weeks time! 26 years since an SCG Prelim!"You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

How did Bet365 know? They must've cleaned up on that tonightOriginally posted by MaltopiaBet365 have just put out a special on Buddy kicking a goal, paying $2 instead of $1.15. Max bet $10.Comment

Suspect he has a broken bugle. He probably had trouble breathing but what a bonus for the Prelim he will be.Comment

And Heeney managed a goal!
Great win with input coming from everyone - really rivalled almost anything Melbourne had.Last edited by dimelb; 2 September 2022, 11:15 PM.He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)Comment

His season has been sensational. From almost the last bloke to be sign a new contract last season, to a key cog in the Swans machine again.
But it has always been about Sam being able to stay on the park, rather than a lack of talent or effort. He has always had the potential, just been let down too often by his body.

That was Bloods football personified. That was as big a statement of intent as any other element of tonight's win. Other teams know that we will hunt, and keep hunting for the four quarters.

Decent chance it could be Collingwood in the Prelim too!
And the Swans score had a familiar ring to it too.
Let's hope we can party like it was 2012 in a few weeks time!"You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment
