I thought Florent had his best ever game last night. Had a lot of good touches at key moments in the game. Hope his ankle is ok.

Blakey's final smother was special. Correction, it was Fox, but if Fox didn't make it Blakey would have.

You're setting the bar needlessly high, as a rationale for tossing the baby out with the bathwater.
You don't need a dominant ruckman, you just need a competative ruckman.
Case in point. That's exactly what we got last night. Hickey wasn't dominant, Gawn may actually have shaded him slightly - but Hell's Bell's Tom Hickey was was absolutely vital to this win.
And more generally, Paul Roos' truism about rucks is as applicable today as it was in 2003, and will be going forward.

I just can't get enough of re-living last night! I've watched the highlights countless times, read every report about the game. The passion shown by our players and our supporters last night was just magnificent.

Just love our club! I'm so proud!

Yep, I mentioned that earlier as summing up our effort tonight. I also only realised on replay Fox himself had started that play way up at the contest on the wing minding Pickett. He covered enormous ground himself.

And by the way, once again major kudos to him for his game. He often had the job on Kossie and obliterated him. He’s been magnificent.

Bloody magnificent, a wholehearted team effort. A number of key movers had lesser games but others stepped up to fill the void.

So much belief within the team, we CAN win the flag. So proud to be a Swans supporter, such a magnificent club. Wonder what Jordan Dawson is doing right now!

A weeks rest is just perfect, boys need to avoid one thing - their own bathwater! But I'm sure they won't be drinking that.

Still feeling the glow this morning, it will be a great fortnight until we next do battle.

We also hold Melbourne's first pick, so keep death riding the Dees folks!

I felt he was best on ground given his influence on the contest. Several huge plays in defence in the first half in particular, when we were under enormous pressure.

I think the only concern I had post game was the form of McInerney tbh. I thought he was really tentative on whether to commit to contests or guard space and his disposal was well below what we are used to from him.

Compared with Stephens who was in the discard pile earlier in the season with his disposal not up to Vfl standard - he slotted one of the smoothest finishes from 50 at a crunch time, did a power of defensive work and overall had a great game

I didn't notice it was McDonald with the clearing kick when watching live, but you can see him on the wide shot absolutely flying to get back and help.
Also, Robbie Fox, that was huge. He was in the centre at the start of that play and did not give up until the ball was clear. Spine tingling stuff

I thought Garry Lyon summed up the game well by pointing to the fact that Melbourne's contested possession count was basically the
same as their uncontested count. Our pressure was that great. For me it's always that every one of the 22 are playing as if their life
depended on it. It's what made the Richmond teams of a few years ago so good. And now we have the likes of Fox and Stephens playing
in a way that is unrecognisable to their game a year ago. Confidence built on effort. It's everything. So it doesn't matter if a
couple of the bigger stars have a quiet night. Others lift and take those opportunities that normally would have been taken by one
of those bigger names. Whoever we play in the Prelim are going to have play out of their socks to beat us I reckon.

What an amazing win , I think the boys will enjoy the week off as that was a brutal contest .

Teams are going to have to take notice of Mills and Rowbottom , they have a defensive mind set but are both great 2 way runners. They both had 600 plus meters gained which is a huge effort .

The mccartins looked lost at sea the first qtr but Tom finished with 17 1%’s which I reckon most would have been spoils .

As a team our pressure was elite , we basically doubled Melbourne for forward 50 tackles 13 to 25 an area Melbourne normally are elite at .Then to also beat them in clearances and stoppage clearances .

Also special mention to Florent and Lloyd who rebounded well out of defensive 50 and were also high in metres gained .

Areas for improvement , early on we were to Buddy focused and really done him no favours by sitting it on his head . He was well beaten by May and had little Impact .
Heeney and Chad were also both well down on normal output but both had critical touches at times . Heeney to even come back after that hard hit is a testament to his hardness . I was sure his nose and Jaw were going to be broken .
McDonald looked a little lost at sea but also noticed his opponents lever and Petty had little impact , maybe his role was to take them away from the play as much as possible especially Lever .
Paddy looked a little overawed at first , but worked his way into the game .

Just a solid team effort , sky is the limit for this group

Our pressure was so good it prohibited us from winning free kicks - they had no prior opportunity. On the other hand, their pressure was a step behind which gave the umps a reason to pay holding the ball against us.

i don’t know if it was apparent on tv, but that play stopped such an obvious goal - the lights went down in the stadium to celebrate a Melbourne goal after McDonald kicked the ball out of the 50…
