I do wonder what he means by "unique cap model"? He doesn't elaborate, so hopefully someone will ask him to explain, on one of his media appearances.
The model is uses the same technology as the Tardis from Dr Who.

I can't imagine anyone would ask - that might lead to other questions which might lead to further questions and the realisation that something fishy has been going on. Then the AFL would have to sweep it under the carpet and then in some years time more revelations are made resulting in AFL executives telling us that they must do better and, as punishment, will slap Geelong with a wet lettuce leaf. No, best to ignore it in the first instance.

I see no reason why GWS would bid for Ashcroft. They have made it clear they moved up to #1 so they could secure a key position players who is happy to move to Sydney.
The northern alliance might just kick in for the benefit of both.
Norf can bid for him at #2 if they want.

If GWS bid on Ashcroft at No.1 Brisbane has to use up maximum points which makes it difficult to pick up their other father/son in Fletcher, unless of course there is some creative pick swaps on the night. I agree that bidding on him by GWS is a waste of time but then North might then bid on him. If he falls to 4th pick it will benefit Brisbane. Brisbane might be right now doing some fast talking with those clubs.

This is a cut throat business, Ashcroft is the best player in the draft, everyone agrees on that, that Brisbane can get him with a bunch of later picks at a 20% discount is already a huge leg up for a player that will be lighting it up for them for the next 12-14 years.

So why would any club not make Brisbane pay fair price? By not doing so makes a competitor stronger. Look at Norf last yearnot bidding on who many thought was the best player in the draft in Daicos, Pies got him cheap at pick 4 discounted another 20%, makes them stronger because they had picks to use that should have been burned in matching.

GWS have been pillaged by everyone (except us) since day 1 of their existence, they don't owe favours to any other club. You want the best player in the draft, you pay the right (discounted) price. Crows did it with JUH and didn't Beveridge squeal, GWS did it with Darcy, and didn't Beveridge squeal some more.

Do it GWS, will be fun to see seven picks extinguish at one go :-)

Yes, it is a bit Tardis like. Their gun players are invariably being paid less then everyone thinks, until they retire, and then their absence clears out a whole lot of salary cap space.

GWS have made it clear by words (Jason McCartney a few days ago) and deeds (swapping two top 10 picks, for pick 1) that they are not interested in selecting anyone who is already committed to a particular state. Ashcroft fits that bill.
And they already have enough midfielders. The risk (Brisbane letting GWS having a want-away-star) far outweighs the reward (whats in it for GWS?)

St Kilda just sacked their coach! Very strange timing given they only re-signed him a few months back. Geoff Walsh is a ruthless bugger. Very late in the piece now to find a new coach. Saints never fail to disappoint!

Wow. And after extending his contract. It didn't seem he was doing that bad a job with what he had, especially the first half of the season. It will be interesting to see who they think they are going to get in that will do a better job?

It's the same clubs that continue to do shambolic things. Thanks goodness we follow the Swans, such a professional organisation.

The Saints should be sacking their list manager. Made terrible decisions going back five years.

Billings the pick before Bontempelli, Paddy the pick before Petracca, Clarke and Coffield the picks before Naughton, slightly damning evidence of bad luck drafting!

Vespremi before Cyril, Dylan before Serong.

Cyril tampered with the draft; Dylan is progressing nicely.

Could rattens departure be because of a blow up between coach and list manager after the trade period?

                              Ratten would have been livid.

I was more thinking the debacle of three or four years back where they threw away two years of draft picks to get Zac Jones, Dougal Howard, Dan Butler and batch of b-grade talent.

Oh, but they did win trade week!
