I see a lot of upside for the Swans if we pick George. A year out recovering with his ACL and living around the club and boys as well as embracing the spirit of the Bloods will be a godsend for this very talented young budding superstar who some pundits believe could have been in the top 5-10 this draft. Could slot into our forward line post Buddy alongside McDonald. Kicked 15 goals in first 5 games this year before doing his ACL. Worth a gamble as has plenty of talent and upside.Comment

tell me more re McAndrew?
How many games had you watched him play?
How many practice games and or training?
focussed on him primarily?
I must say from the limited training and or games i see a kid with a lot of potential.........2024/25
raw, intense defence, covers the ground really well.
now crafting his ruck play
He dad a couple of things I have not seen from too many rucks. He grabbed a ball as it bounced in one match, dodged and kicked a beautiful around the corner goal. In another, he made a feint about 10 metres out, bamboozling the oppinent, and kicked an easy goal. There is definite talent there. He just needs to get game time to be able to get his hands on the pill more often.
I think there is hope there. With a coach that really will develop him I think he could flourish. The players love him. He seems very popular with the reserves players. They call him Stretch I think

Nothing surer that we'll end up trading back into the draft on draft night and disappoint us keen draft watchers that have a few favourites we are hoping we'll pick with our two top 20 picks...

Simon Dalrymple confirms Swans interest in Weddle and Barnett!

Cowan and George are also “firmly in the frame” whatever that means?Comment

Has this draft got a 2016 Oli and Hayward feel about it or a Gus and Robbo feel about it?"be tough, only when it gets tough"

Gerard Healy is of the opinion West Coast would be interested in Elijah as a replacement for Willie Rioli and being a WA boy (who is only 21yo).
P.S. Cal mentioned 60 delisted players have nominated for the Draft, considering only about 60 picks will be taken overall.Last edited by KSAS; 25 November 2022, 06:05 AM.Comment

There are a lot of good players and we don't have to take a risk with George.
Do not think Allen will be there at our pick but brilliant if he is.
For our pick 14, there will be a good player there so lets not trade it.
Still holding our hope that Holland will there; if he is lets grab him.
For our second pick we can take whoever fit a need.
But some taller players would be good.Last edited by Cosmic Wizard; 25 November 2022, 08:38 AM.doof-doofComment

I think my bigger issue with George is the type of player he's described as.
Let's leave aside the injury risk, and whether the effects rob him of some of the power and explosion he's renowned for.
Every report I've seen describes him as a mark-and-lead forward first and foremost. How many 185cm mark-and-lead forwards are successful at AFL-level against modern defensive structures? Zero. He's apparently also got some ground ball tricks, but that mark-and-lead style is supposedly the very essence of his game. Bailey Fritsch and Heeney are the nearest points of comparison for height, but both have a wide repertoire of attributes and ability to scrounge and score goals.
And the two big knocks on George are versatility and endurance. Which limits his upside further.
I'm not saying the guy doesn't have talent. He clearly does, but is he what we really need . . .'Delicious' is a fun word to sayComment

Dalrymple would just be talking publicly about almost any names in our range and also out of our range in case there's a slipper or bolter. I wouldn't take any name he uttered as any more indication we're interested than names he didn't utter. Swans may just be the most lock tight recruiters of them all.
Today's Adelaide advertiser has several pages on the likely SA recruits. Barnett says he's been interviewed by 16 clubs but Collingwood, Sydney and Saints are the most interested. Also said he's keen to make an impact in his first season as he feels he's ready to do that. Looks a big lump of a lad in the picture.
We have 14 & 17, Pies have 16,25,27, Saints have, after their early first, 28,32. So if we want Barnett we are probably sweating on the Pies not taking him as early as 16 so he can slip to our second at 17.
Make of this what you will, we want to load up next year, hmmmm Mitch Cleary this morning - Sydney’s list management team has in the last 24 hours ratified a decision to put its picks 14 and 17 on the trade table to clubs wanting to get into this year’s first-round. Clubs have been told the Swans want strong assets in next year’s draft

Swans have been know to pay a lot of attention to a “dummy” player. As you say 707, this could be mis-direction … or a double bluff.Comment
