There is no doubt about it. If Stephens can fix his delivery he will be a valuable player.
We have them where we want them, everything is going according to plan!

It appears BJ has made it almost impossible for the snr leadershipp team and coaches to drop him........so where does Dyl fit in?

I was thinking similarly a while ago. There seems to be no spot, no role for him and his skill set in the seniors now.

I don't think his disposal skills, compared with others, are as bad as is made out. He does seem to lack a plan B though for when he runs into problems, and can't get clear and just bangs the ball on his foot or handballs to someone who is also not clear. He has learnt to tackle but like Campbell does not have the body strength to stop opponents or break out of tackles himself. He can be so good as a ball getter but his effectiveness can be limited because of the above. He needs a few lessons from Gavin Wanganeen or to train for a while with Errol.

Campbell gets better with every game. Braeden is streets ahead of Stephens.

                - Hickey dominated the ruck, so he deserves another chance at seniors - not sure of the standard of the opposition.
-Ladham was not used in ruck and looked rusty
-Roberts played a brilliant first half and we need to find a place in the seniors for him. Even if it half back flank.
-Francis and Arnold were very solid down back
                - Though not many possessions Konstanky showed his class at various times
-Stephens looked good running through the centre with many possessions but his kicks never landed with a Swans player. Not sure what goes through his head?
-Buller was poor early on but a solid second half. Not sure if good enough for seniors berth at this stage.
-Loved Caiden Cleary's game for a 18 year old - I hope he joins us next year.
Had the afternoon off yesterday and watched the game. Heartily agree regarding Caiden Cleary. A tough unit who can find the ball. A top game, and given his youth, great signs.

Yes, Rookie Me published this yesterday, where they're possibly suggesting, that of all the draft prospects running around on the weekend, Cleary put in the best performance.

Although, their most recent power rankings were expanded to thirty players, but they still couldn't find a spot for him.

I'm also slowly becoming more convinced by Max Rider. After the Talent League games, I thought that although he was our top goal scorer, he didn't quite have the tricks to make it as a medium forward. But he was very good in a couple of games for the Allies and I liked what he did on the weekend, especially his goal from the boundary. He seems to be a very reliable kick, can often find space for himself, exert defensive pressure and is effective when he ventures to the wing.

That goal by Rider was a peach. Definitely has a few tricks.

This is the team for the game against the Giants, which starts at 1.35pm on Saturday at Blacktown.

                            B: W. Gould (17), C. Webster (62), W. Edwards (28)
                            HB: L. Rankin (41), H. Arnold (38), J. Magor (32)
                            C: C. Mitchell (35), N. Shipley (52), C. Warner (37)
                            HF: J. Bartholomaeus (53), I. Kirk (54), H. Hall-Kahan (45)
                            F: J. Buller (47), J. Konstanty (18), P. Ladhams (19)
                            R: L. McAndrew (46), D. Stephens (3), M. Roberts (34)
                            INT: C. Cleary (65), C. Owen (40), T. Gander (56), L. Cabor (68), M. Rider (66)*
                            EMG: J. Tidemann (63), M. Geddes (61), H. Morrison (55)

                            IN: L. Cabor, T. Gander, C. Webster
OUT: A. Francis, T. Hickey (AFL), J. Tidemann
                            NEW: Lachlan Cabor, 17, 181cm, Shellharbour/St George/Swans Academy

Interesting that they're bringing in some more academy players. Of those, I think Gander might be the most promising. He's improved this season, has put on a bit of weight, has plenty of pace and a fair bit of skill. He's also versatile, having played key forward, forward flank, wing and half back, at various times this season.

And Caleb May is probably a bit unlucky not to be given a go, but it's hard to add another ruckman to the side, with Ladhams, McAndrew and Owen already there. Though I suspect if pitted against Owen, he'd win the majority of ruck contests.

Stephens isn't playing, so it looks he's the sub tonight.
