Stephens for Mackay or Sheezel. Plus we’d throw in Clarke to sweeten the deal!????Comment

From what I understand from GWS, is they could ride out Hayes pay next year, but it won't allow them to go after anyone at trade time. So they aren't desperate like GC were with Bowes.
However, definitely open to a deal especially with HH taking over Haynes role in the last couple of years.Comment

The draft appears to have 11 players rated significantly above the rest, so pick 15 may be on the table for the right price.
Assuming West Coast retains pick 1, pick 15 would be tradeable. I would expect a discussion on trading Stephens to start with pick 15 and then go from there. North currently lack a second-round pick in this year's draft so that is not an option.
In addition to pick 15, a swap of later picks may get the deal done. How it would go would be if 15 is considered to be overs or unders. If it's overs, 15 and 39 for Stephens and 28 may be enough (points value around pick 22). If 15 is unders, 15 and 39 for Stephens may be the limit (points value around pick 8). I consider such a trade to be unlikely.
Another possibility could be North's future second-round pick. If North finish last next year, that pick would be valuable.
We used pick 5 to draft him, but that is irrelevant - it's what we would get in a trade that matters."Unbelievable!" -- Nick Davis leaves his mark on the 2005 semi finalComment

I'm writing hypothetically here...

But wait, surely we took Caleb Serong with Pick 6 in the 2019 draft. Yea the legendary CURSED pick 6 which hath never delivers a champion player. ????"I'll acknowledge there are more talented teams in the competition but I won't acknowledge that there is a better team in the competition" Paul Roos March 2005Comment

Pick for Stephen’s would be trade of the decade or in the top10 anyway
If take it if it meant to can trade what we really really really need to be a top4 team in 2024 and rightfully so given the list bar a couple chess pieces
Otherwise ……if not possible ….If we have a couple injuries to BJ and or Jmac and or Gulden then keeping Stephen’s would be very very handy …….. and as we all know he is at that age and experience where lucks a fortune and he make double down and find himself in the best 22 more often."be tough, only when it gets tough"

My feeling is that the AFL will hand over pick 3 compo for McKay to NM in lieu of a priority pick for being so bad. If so, then NM would be happy to let him go as a FA and not match a bid for him.
I hope Stephens has a good game Saturday and can hold a spot in the side, which should increase his trade value. Right now, we would be very lucky to get a 2nd rounder. I can't see him improving enough for us to want to keep him, but I hope he gives it a shot.Comment
