I think in the past the hardest thing was achieving balance in contested and exits.
Can everyone remember the arguments on this forum re why the hell is Heeney and Mills not being given more inside mid time with Parker and Kennedy etc.
Looking back we probably may agree it wasn’t about if they could or couldnt do a great job it was more the balance in the mids and match ups on the bigger grounds that may bring us unstuck.
Probably same again different era 2024……in trying to have Parker, Mills, Patch, Rowbottom, Chad, Sheldrick, Robert’s inside mids at the same time…….a fast nimble centre midfield may (on a big ground) will be tough to break down or dominate with that rotation of bodies."be tough, only when it gets tough"

Absolutely, I likewise think he has a great future, so the less time he spends parked in a forward pocket the better.Comment

Anyone know how long we signed Hamling or Jordon for?
This website I usually use (https://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/to-sydney-swans) for player information says only one year for both. I suspect this is wrong and the site just says one year on the basis that the length of their contract isn't publically known yet.Comment

Footywire has quite a few obvious errors. For example, they have listed the retired GWS "Sam Reid" in our current players List: " Samuel Reid#50 Sydney SwansAge: 34yr Games: 108 Born: November 7, 1989 Origin: Uws GiantsHeight: 188cm Weight: 85kg Position: DefenderFirst Drafted: Round 3, Pick #35 2007 National Draft by Western BulldogsLast Drafted: Round 1, Pick #11 2023 Rookie Draft by Sydney Swans" Not sure who should be blamed. Sometimes wonder why the Club cannot be more transparent and provide accurate information to us fans and the public.Comment

Each page has a small Feedback button hidden away at the bottom-right so I submitted that as an error - let's see if the message goes to a human.Comment

Hamling himself has said the two-year offer from the Swans, vs the one year he originally got from the Dockers, was what got him over the line.
I'm certain I read three for Jordan, but buggered if i can remember where.'Delicious' is a fun word to sayComment

Liz,
I think you are right on this. My recollection is Freo only offered Hamling a one year deal on a basic contract. The Swans definitely offered him a two year deal, which Freo then matched , but still on the same basic contract believing because he and his family were already settled in Perth, he would accept even if it was below market value.
For Freo to do this would indicate they must have some belief he has some ability despite his poor run with injuriesComment
