Yes, Fox is a marvel and was really holding Collingwood at bay, when they had us under a lot of pressure early. And Blakey was excellent when we were on top in the second quarter. Him running full belt out of defence, is possibly my favourite thing in footy these days. Well, that, and Gulden in the middle of one of his, 'Errol, you just run wherever you want to' games. Our accuracy is killing us, not just narrow losses, but for momentum change.
We can't win if we are so bad at set shots or what should be kickable goals at the top level.
A few more accuracy would have kept up the pressure and kept us in the game.
Now the positives, well we did do better in the midfield. Blakely and Fox were very good.Comment

Campbell definitely did the job on McCreery and was outstanding. McCreery is great at running relentlessly to make space and contribute and Campbell lived in his back pocket. Another tick on his season.I've just looked at the stats. They make for interesting reading. We dominate the top section of the possessions board, but - apart from the top couple - there is a swathe of Pies players dominating the metres gained column. That reflects the high possession - and yes, sometimes overpossession - game we played. A lot of the Pies' players stats were likely inflated significantly by that last quarter when we ran out of gas.
I much preferred the way Gulden was used today (and last week, though not to quite the same effect) than for the first month and a bit of the season. He showed that you can be hard, win plenty of contests etc without starting every centre bounce. I guess he took over Stephens' role today, largely running the wing, but not in any sense "outside".

Was anyone paying attention to the defensive match-ups? I thought the whole defensive team was great at absorbing pressure and cutting off attacking forays. Their cards suffered once the midfield pressure deteriorated in that final quarter. But, specifically, does anyone know who was (predominantly) minding Hill and McCreery? Fine jobs, whoever they were.
I can’t be as sure on Hill, but think depending on match ups, it looked like a combo of Harry and Ollie.'Delicious' is a fun word to sayComment

I didn't ask was it our fault we lost. Of course it was our fault we lost. My question was "was it our fault there was a 24 to 10 free kick count?". Don't be a politician. You said it wasn't the umpires fault.....so whose fault was it?
Maybe 'Mr. +1' could enlighten us as well.

I didn't even realise it was on TV so I didn't watch the game....but it cannot be ignored that they got 14 more frees than us....and a certain umpire called Stevic was out there, screwing us as usual.I've noticed a lot more that there seems to be plenty of keyboard warriors on here that prefer to take pot shots at poster's comments on the game that they disagree with instead of actually making their own comments on the games.
Perhaps admin need to have a look at that...
I understand the team is not playing anywhere near it's best but the almost abusive negativity of some on here is tiresome. It really is.
If you think you could do better than those out on the park trying their guts out for our club and not quite pulling it to the standard you demand then I bow to your superior knowledge and footballing talent.....NOT.
.....and pleading to 'admin' to censor those who are more positive about our team is really.....well, you can fill in the blanks. I might get 'censored'.

If your blaming the umps on that lost, you need to maybe watch the replay.Campbell definitely did the job on McCreery and was outstanding. McCreery is great at running relentlessly to make space and contribute and Campbell lived in his back pocket. Another tick on his season.

WTF are you on about? I said it wasn’t the umpires fault we lost. Pretty simple I would have thought.I didn't ask was it our fault we lost. Of course it was our fault we lost. My question was "was it our fault there was a 24 to 10 free kick count?". Don't be a politician. You said it wasn't the umpires fault.....so whose fault was it?

LOL so you didn’t even watch the game but are adamant that we lost because of the umpires. Wow wee ????I didn't even realise it was on TV so I didn't watch the game....but it cannot be ignored that they got 14 more frees than us....and a certain umpire called Stevic was out there, screwing us as usual.

You on a fan forum where pepple comment on what they believe they are seeing...... Dont talk about whether or not anyone could do better then the paid professionals we have to do the jobs on a fanpage.
In my view, if they are still allowed here.
We choked in front of goal and it has cost us at least 2 games this year.
Midfield most likely lost all momentum when we consistently went fwd for no reward.
Defence most likely lost all momentum when we consistently went fwd for no reward.
Umps were average but not game deciding
We have better options, short and longterm, then Harry.
If an AFL player kicks it into the mark or gets tackled after holding it for 15 secs they should be dragged

Im getting lectured by someone that didnt watch the game....????Comment

Umpires were horrid and biased. Clear free kicks to our players not paid but soft ones paid to the other team.
They didn’t cause us to lose, but the 2-3 goal advantage didn’t help along with our woeful shots at goals and stuffing up chances eg Francis kicking the ball way to the right of Franklin under no pressure when we had a 2-1 and it bounced out of bounds.
Other team converted a lot more than us and had some lucky bounces (eg Mihocek’s early goal from a ball that spun away from McCartin).
We competed hard in the first three quarters and looked like a chance of taking this game until they suddenly got on top of us.Comment

I’m blaming the umps. Didn’t watch the entire 2nd half, but def the umpiring that made the difference. That and Terrible misses from shots that had to be made. We could have easily been up by 5 goals at half time and probably would’ve won or lost by a point.Comment

Wow wee....I've already said it was our fault we lost....did you not read that? I asked was it our fault we got a 24 to 10 free kick count. I know that's not what you actually said but can you not answer that?
I can also acknowledge a closer count may have not affected the end result....but it may have made the game a lot closer and instilled more confidence in our team that their efforts are actually going to be rewarded. How confidence sapping do you think one sided umpiring is on a young team?
Absolutely not at all I'm guessing.

our kicking for goal is terrible this year with Heaney being the worst. His last 5 shots at goal from 30M out gave us 3 behinds, an out on the full and did not make the distance but was off line anyway. but in my opinion watching the game live the effort was there for 3 1/4s but our inability to play out the whole game is the main reason we are losing.Comment

I am on a fan forum where some seem to think it fine to basically abuse our players.....because they can't handle a loss. Grow a set.Comment
