He's not a Swans' academy boy. He came through the Giants' academy.

Not knocking any of these posts, but Campbell was always going to make it. He’s a third year player, which is when most players start to cut through. And he’s finally developed a tank. We’re often too keen for players to become instant sensations.

The Swans have taught him good habits and he’s developed the fitness to utilise his talents.

And boy, his kicking is lethal. We will score more goals than we otherwise would because the ball is in his hands going inside 50.

If that means he sits out a few to get a really good training block in, then plays a couple of games to regain touch, or some other pathway to get there (such as sub, though I think that’s unlikely), so be it.

He’s not selfish so it’s unlikely he will be focused on that, but I still hope it’s done right.
Great post. Agree with the objective. I also agree he's not an ideal sub, for a few reasons. However, I don't see how he plays ahead of McDonald, Amartey and even McLean, so it's a little challenging. The easy, obvious decision is to wait another week. Big week for the young forwards.

If you check his history he went through the Swans academy and the Giants academy. Not sure how that works. He definetly played for the Red and White last Saturday.

He started at the Swans academy but went to the giants academy from about u14/15s onwards. He's on the Swans VFL list but also plays for North Shore otherwise. Once they are outside academy they can play VFL with either.

The coaches' votes are in. Slightly surprisingly, none of Shuey, Kelly, Gaff or Sheed were able to squeeze a vote out.

                10 Errol Gulden (SYD)
                8 Chad Warner (SYD)
                6 Isaac Heeney (SYD)
                2 James Rowbottom (SYD)
                2 Luke Parker (SYD)
                2 Tom Hickey (SYD)

In a game like that, clearly there were a lot of players who had excellent games who weren't going to sneak into the voting. After watching a replay, I actually thought Heeney was my "best on" but that maybe because it's so fun to watch him when he plays with that cat-like grace.

The one I'd would have like to sneak was Campbell, who was sensational in the first half. I'd probably have him in over Warner, who got a lot of the ball for sure, but was literally allowed to dance around unguarded all night.

Warner’s miss of the simplest of goals 10 metres out at end of first quarter should have registered a penalty of 10 votes to be deducted from his final tally.

A bit harsh, considering we kicked 31 and won by over 28 goals.

                          Good on Gus.

He’s got a lot of power at the contest and is very clean. I know we were playing witches hats the other night but there was a handball that so impressed me. In the relative chaos of the centre square, he saw Chad had zipped out the front, fired one over to him, and Chad popped it to Parker in the goal square for what was his checkside goal. It showed clean hands and great vision.

Robbo is ranting and gesticulating that West Coast were not even trying v Swans and Gerard is in agreement.
Apparently they even kicked the 31 goals for us !

We can't really retort until we beat Geelong next week.
