Apparently they only had two listed players in their WAFL side today. So, an injury list like that is always going to be almost insurmountable. However, I don't know what to make of them being badly injury ravaged for at least the last couple of seasons. Have they been desperately unlucky, or have they been doing something fundamentally wrong?

I always rate % as the real ladder position (although this year with WC I'm not as sure).. I think 7th to 9th would be a fair position for our season so far.

For all the Don Pyke fans on here, after today, he might be offered an opportunity to head back home to WA soon.

It’s a good point, and particularly for the sides outside the eight, a good sign of how close they are to bouncing back. I remember when Brisbane was in their rebuild they went something like 60, 60, 90, then bang top two.

Sincere question - as I only saw glimpses of him - for those that saw Errol prior to him being drafted, could you have predicted what he’d become so quickly? If not, what did level did you see for him?

Liz? Didn't you anoint Errol after seeing him as a 16yo in an U18s game?

You're on the MC, Buddy is fit to play against Geelong, he's Tom Stewart's bunny, do you bring Buddy in and who do you drop?

Far less difficult, assume Hayward is over his illness and comes in for Clarke?

It was fun to be there, for another moment of footy history at the SCG if nothing else. Chants of "one more goal" and "two hun-dred", Mexican waves, quite the party atmosphere.

Yeo was absolutely gutted at the end, sank to his haunches and just stayed there for a minute or more until Campbell jogged over for a handshake and a kind word.

It was a great team effort and for a club not always known for ruthlessness, good that they didn't let up. Could easily have had at least 3 more goals in the last quarter, some easy misses! I enjoy these glimpses of what the post-Buddy forward line is going to look like too.

And then there's next week so...at least they'll be feeling good and confident, with some handy players back too.

I think I was rating him as a future Paul Kelly. I certainly thought that Campbell being taken at pick 5 was about right, but Gulden was the real gun and that getting him at 32 was both mystifying and hilarious.

He is a gun young Errol

I said preseason when Campbell popped, he’d pop quickly. He has every attribute and just needed tank. And I know the Swans were amazed Errol slipped to 32. I don’t know where they rated him, but they thought he’d be grabbed 15-22 range.

I’m just curious what those who had seen him thought he’d be.

Wins like this don't come along all that often and it was good to see us keep the pressure on the whole match. Errol is a star and Campbell is really looking like he belongs.
I think at one point halfway through the second quarter it was 66 - 25. Then we really went to town, scoring 139 to 9. The Eagles really are a rabble and are about as uncompetitive as the Swans circa 1992- 1993 when we lost 26 in a row, and won 1 of 35 matches. I feel a bit sorry for their fans, even the ones Micky O got stuck into when our rivalry was at its best.

They had a number of premiership players in the team. Most didn't give a yelp... woeful.

I suspect that the best explanation for Errol not being rated more highly, was that many pundits thought at around 170cm, he was too small for AFL. So, he was generally rated late first round or early second. That opinion seemed to be entrenched, even when he put on 4 or 5cm in his draft year. Perhaps a real world example of primacy bias.

On current form, I wouldn't be dropping any of our forwards for Buddy, but wouldn't object to him being the sub Speaking of which, how do we get Fox back in the 22? If we want to keep Sheldrick in the 22, then Fox may have to remain the sub, even though I would agree he's in our top dozen players. Fox showed today that he makes the perfect sub, easily slotting into our forward line today.

Tom McCartin may be ready to come back into the AFL side. He played very well in the VFL and is better than either of our KPDs from today, although both played well. I suppose he replaces either Melican or Francis, but not sure which one.

It's been a long time since we had legit selection problems.
